I have attempted to google around for answers however, most of what I have found are in fact the same problem I am experiencing. I was sent a power point presentation that has some movie embedded in it. However the movie must have been created on a MAC and some of the compression settings specifically were "off". Because of this I can't view it on a windows machine, the "error" specifically is:
QuickTime and a DV/DVCPRO -
NTSC decompressor are needed to see this picture.
Now from what I have searched for I have found that the setting has to do with the audio compression and making it incompatible with Windows (compressing the AVI file). My question is this:
Is there a converter or something similar that will allow me to after the fact correct this? The original file was sort of a hand-me-down so I doubt getting the original file exported corrected is unlikely.
Any ideas/suggestions? Has the internet lied to me about what the issue is? Thanks in advance!
I assume the windows computer has Quicktime installed? There are precious few codecs that are OS-only -- the only ones that come to mind are the ancient IV50. Even the troublesome WMV format has a translator (that's decent but not great).

I apologize, I thought I had mentioned that quicktime was installed but since I was rushing when I wrote the OP I neglected to put that in there.
I was able to do more searching and the answer seems to be here if anyone else comes across this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821417/en-us?spid=2522&sid=909
The codecs for this are apparently not available, and the only other method for correcting this after the fact is via quicktime pro.
I am just searching around quickly on my lunch break so I may have missed something else or misread what I found.
