So I get up this morning, plug the ipod in to put some music on it

iTunes won't open it. Doesn't light up, nothing, but the computer recognizes it as being there.

Alright, charge it

Nothing lights up when I plug it into the wall either

Is it just the battery is too low and I need to charge it for an hour first or what

What was the initial battery level before you started doing all this?

Was it like, completely uncharged? Sort of charged?

I guess it was pretty low because it won't even turn on, it must've run down during the night

the part that got me was that the computer recognized it being there and it normally won't if the battery is too low

Also the "nothing happens when I plug into the wall" part

Hn... give it some time, if nothing happens, maybe a system restore?

Can't. It won't turn on or light up in iTunes remember?

    Shit, that's right.

I don't know what to tell you here, all my problems with mine were fixed with a restore.

I guess just wait to see if it kicks on after a little charging.

Plug it into the wall and let it charge for a while. A total lack of charge can make it do all kids of things.

Then try the appropriate reset sequence.

That usually jumps it back to life.

For some reason, some computer won't get to the charge sequence unless the device boots properly. Use wall power for a couple hours, then give it a go.

So far, from what you describe, this is very common. Try not to worry to much.
