So, my wife got me a 1600 point card for Valentine's Day and I'm trying to decide what I should get with it.
What I have so far:
Castle Crashers, N+, Bomberman Live, MM9, Braid, Castlevania: SotN, Alien Hominid HD, Puzzle Quest, Carcasonne, Lumines Live! (plus all expansion packs except Tokyo Mix), Banjo Kazooie, Boom Boom Rocket, Heavy Weapon, Metal Slug 3, Poker Smash, Pac-Man: CE, Gripshift, Hexic HD, Ikaruga, Undertow, Rocketmen: Axis of Evil, Meteos Wars, Omega Five, Rez HD, Galaga Legions, Mr. Driller Online, Triggerheart Exelica, Mutant Storm Empire, Mutant Storm Reloaded, Space Giraffe, Paperboy, Root Beer Tapper, Defender, Assault Heroes, Assault Heroes 2, Pac-Man, Aegis Wing, Zuma, Geometry Wars, Geometry Wars 2, Robotron: 2084, EXIT, BC: Rearmed, Roogoo, Dash of Destruction...whew, I think that's all of them.
As you can see, I have most of the XBLA essentials (and a few of the non-essentials). Oh and I have the PC version of Portal so no need to buy that unless the XBLA version has a lot of new content. And I have a GameTap membership so no need to buy games that are on that.
Games I'm considering:
R-Type Dimensions - I'm a big shmup fan so this is obviously a contender. On the other hand, I already own the TG-16 version of R-Type 1 on the Wii so I'm not sure if I want to spend $15 for an enhanced version of a game I already partially own. On the third hand, the new graphics look nice & I'm a sucker for online leaderboards + shmups. How does R-Type 2 compare to the first game?
The Maw - I hear it's a good game albeit short. Going to check out the demo today.
Eets: Chowdown - I remember liking the demo back when it came out and putting it on the "Buy later when I have extra points" pile.
E4 - I loved the freeware PC game Every Extend, but the demo for the 360 version seemed a little too hands off. How's the full game?
Prince of Persia - This is just a graphic remake of the original game, right?
Powerup Forever - The demo made this seem like a fun game, although I'm a little worried that it might be lacking compared to some of the twin stick shooters I already own.
Aces of the Galaxy - I enjoyed the demo, but I'm worried the full game might be just more of the same.
1942: Joint Strike - Seemed like a fun shmup.
I'm also up for other suggestions. Keep in mind that I'm more of a single player fan. Oh and I don't own Rock Band.
Alternatively, I could save the points for something coming up. Is anything big coming up soon? I know I'm going to want the Mirror's Edge level pack, but that's not really an urgent desire (I just got the game about a week ago so I'm still working on the content that's already in the game). Space Invaders Extreme & the new Metal Slug are also highly desired, but I don't know how far off those are. Lode Runner & the Dishwasher are also on my to-buy list and apparently are coming relatively soon so I might want to wait for those as well.

Nope. No GTA4 and no desire to get it. Thanks for the suggestion though. Mirror's Edge is the only disk-based 360 game I own at the moment with DLC that I intend to buy (although I'll probably pick up a version of Rock Band some time when I have the money & I'll probably buy whatever DLC RE5 has).

I liked A Kingdom for Keflings.
Duke Nukem 3D if you're in to that kinda thing.
(sorry that i cant recommend a 360 title to dl)
Xbox Live - Doctor Xedd
Gametap - RIbar77
Tooie's date is just April at the moment. And I think that in this case, the sequel was much better than the orginal, even though I love Banjo Kazooie.
The SF2 remake has some interest to me, but $15 seems a bit high when I figure later this year or early next year I'll probably be able to pick up a used copy of SF4 for about that much.
Does Banjo Tooie have a date yet? I really like the original and I've never played the sequel.

I'm always looking for people to play with online.
Send a pm my way if you're interested.
Powerup Forever is an interesting title. Your reservations about it being not quite up to the standard of other twinstick shooters is pretty accurate - it sure ain't no Geometry Wars - but the game has a few hooks of its own. You can really "zone out" with this game and a couple of beers. Only major problem is that death can some quickly and suddenly at higher levels, and restarting from the bottom again can feel like a chore. Really nice visuals in this game though, some of the best on XBLA.
And I'm contemplating The Maw myself.
A Kingdom for Keflings is a fun game, and so it Outpost Kaloki X. They're nice timesucks. Age of Booty is a fun multiplayer game, but I haven't played it recently so I don't know how the online community is.
P.S.
I'm an idiot.
In related news, you could always think about original Xbox titles. I have SM Pirates and Crimson Skies, and I still play both.
Also, you're the only other person I've seen get Rocketman: Axis of Evil.

Ah hem.
I gave E4 another try and yeah, that one's out. It's a shame, but I think the freeware PC original is better than the supposedly enhanced XBLA version. The Maw demo was fun although the whole thing felt like a tutorial. To the people who have played the full game, do the puzzles get better later on?
Oh and Rocketman: Axis of Evil is one of the few games I regret getting. It's not horrible (if nothing else, it's fun to see your character grow in power as you upgrade your stats & weapons), but it's definitely one of the weaker shooters on the service.

It's damn good.
