FYE blowout sale?

I did a quick search and didn't see anything on this topic, so I hope I'm not reporting old news.

I was down at The Gallery at Market East in Philadelphia yesterday and saw that they were having a huge sale on Xbox, Gamecube, GBA and PS2 games: all 50% off. While that didn't necessarily catch my eye, what did was the huge sign in the DS section: $9.99 for all DS games $29.99 and under (after mail-in rebate).

I couldn't pass it up and had the money to spare, so I picked up these guys for $10:

My World My Way
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
Dragon Ball Origins

I also saw Dragon Quest IV, Clubhouse Games, and other games that didn't seem like they should be a part of a big sale like this.

Anyone see this happening anywhere else or did I just get lucky?

The FYE near me had a similar sale a bit over a year ago when they decided to stop carrying video games at that location. I was picking up brand new PS3 and 360 titles at 50% off, it was great.

This is pretty sweet, but I'm no fan of mail-in rebates.

I guess I'll check out their 50% off last-gen deals.

My FYE moved out of this mall two years ago. I kind of thought the company went out of business since I hadn't heard anything about them for quite a while. It's a shame too, since they had way better music selection than Target or Wal-Mart, though they were also about five bucks more expensive.

However, I never ever remember seeing video games being sold there.

I've been to FYE a couple times to look at games, but I can never find anything halfway decent, even when they aren't having sales. All I can ever find are crappy Madden or disney channel games.

They are also doing 8gig ipod touches for 99$ after 150$ rebate(could be a prepaid debit). I doubt anyone will find one now though.

I hear their rebates are pretty reliable, so who knows.

Yeah, mailin rebates are bad money.

Especially in the current economic situation.

You should always plan to pay the full amount, and if you just so happen to be lucky and get that money back in 2-4 months then it can be a happy surprise not a horrible ripoff.

I'm with Omeks, there are two FYEs close-by and I'm positive that neither sell games.

Nor are they are a good store to shop at in general, their prices are laughable and ridiculous, so here's hoping the fuckers go under.

Reading the fine print, the rebate is issued in the form of a VISA check card with the amount on it.

While these can be accepted almost anywhere, the return time is about 10 - 14 weeks. I had planned to buy these games anyway, and I hadn't bought anything since October, so this was partly me treating myself.

FYI (FYE?) the store at The Gallery had half priced last gen, but the one I went to in Wilmington didn't do the sale for PS2 games. Which is a shame, really--$15 for a Limited Edition Wild Arms 5 would have been a steal.
