Every year, I make a NASCAR thread on the day of the Daytona 500.
Every year, the same few guys that appreciate the sport come in and comment, amongst the
redneck, circles, rednecks
But this year, it's going to be different. I don't know how, but it is.
Anyway, the Daytona 500 comes on this afternoon. And I'm totally going to be watching, because I love auto racing, and this is a race with automobiles.
There are a lot of driver and car changes this year, off the top of my head...
Tony Stewart now drives the #14, which he owns.
Ryan Newman is now in the #39, which is another car Tony Stewart owns.
Joey Logano, 18 year old kid, is now in the #20, Tony's old car.
Clint Bowyer now drives the #33.
Casey Mears is now in Clint's old car, the #07.
Mark Martin is now full time again, in the #5 this year.
AJ Allmendinger is now in the #44.
Reed Sorensen is now in the #43
Kyle Petty is out completely, no #45 car.
David Stremme is taking over Newman's old car, the #12.
Scott Speed, an F1 racer who seems totally over confident and arrogant when it comes to NASCAR is now in the #82 with Red Bull Racing.
Then there are a lot of sponsor changes too but I'm not getting into those.
Anywho, the season finally starts today, despite just ending a couple of months ago. Goodyear still can't make a tire that is raceable and will hold up past a few laps, and the officiating body of the sport is still retarded. Either way, should be fun.

yeah whatever
he can still rev my engine
but to note: i do not go out of my way to watch nascar. i will watch it if i am drinking beer and it is on, however, i do have several drivers that i actually like.
NOTHING!
I just hate Jack Roush.
So bad.
When there is a seven car pileup.
Other than that, it puts me to sleep. there is less action and overtaking than F1, and that is saying something.
I can understand a lot of people like the high speed, the noise and the feel, and the tactics involved, but it just doesn't get my motor running.
WRC or D1 on the other hand...
in fact, i often cheer for tony stewart just to upset my friend.
nascar can only be truly enjoyed if you have attended a race. a race is a party. one massive fucking party based around cars driving really fucking fast doing large donuts.
if you don't like the sport, i guarantee you that you would enjoy a race, just because it is totally different.
I've been trying to reach you, but your extension cord doesn't reach that far.
Is it just me or should Mark Martin be forced to race with a specially installed blinker that keeps blinking to the right?

And I have to agree with you on seeing a race. It's totally different, and it is definitely just one 3-4 day long party.

i live five hours away from texas motor speedway.
my buddies and i up at college are planning a massive fucking trip up there, hopefully not the one in april, because that is during chilifest, but probably november.
Hell, the california spring race got rained out last year.
I'll watch basically any kind of motorsport, but I really only keep up with NASCAR. Mostly because it has great TV coverage. Any F1 race I want to watch comes on at 4 in the morning.
Hell, my favorite two weekends for the sport are the two races at Richmond every year.
I've been to Talladega twice, but that's because I'm only about 4 hours away from it. I'd love to go to Richmond.
something something earnhardt
But isn't your dad...
1. Because he was a huge spokesman for the sport and really helped the sport grow exponentially for more than 20 years.
2. He was already a legend, his death turned him into something almost bigger than the sport and all of his support funneled into his retardedly over-covered and overrated son.
yes.
damn
I've got some cars up on the shelf, a signed one, and the racing jacket.
Which is an awesome jacket.
It was pretty boring, and the nitrous burned like a motherfucker, I couldn't stop crying when we were walking around and they were burning out the cars because they hadn't run for like a week due to rain.
And there was this ugly girl two rows in front of me that I was hitting on and her dad kept glaring at me.
But then one of the cars exploded it was great.
I have some cars too. Two Kasey Kahne 1:24 cars, and a 1:24 Stewart Old Spice car is on its way to me, but it's made by one of the cheaper brands. The two Kahne cars I have are the ones where the chassis and outside metal are diecast, whereas the cheaper brands use a plastic chassis to make them less expensive.
They sit in display cases on my shelf, so I figured it didn't matter what material the chassis was.
ohhhhhhhh SNAP
My dad was at the race the night before.
He was an Earnhardt fan from the beginning.
