Definitely true. New Labour has got into the terrible habit of appointing Home Secretaries that are batshit. The latest of them "Wacky" Jacqui Smith is facing questions over whether she is abusing the expenses system by claiming costs for a second home that she apparently never uses, and in which her sister is living.
She also frequently commissions huge and expensive studies then ignores the results. Recent examples include the study that showed CCTV cameras have little to no deterrent effect (after which she announced a huge expansion of CCTV installations) a study into the social effects of "extreme" pornography which found that there pretty much aren't any (after which new laws were introduced which are so badly worded the police have said they won't enforce them because they're not sure what they mean, and appear to criminalise the act of looking at "extreme" pornography rather than the more traditional acts of possession or creation) andthe study that concluded there is no reason to devote time and money to enforcing cannabis prohibition (after which it was re-classified to carry heavier penalties for possession, production, and distribution).
I hope she drowns in her own sleaze.

It is hell of worth it to get a level 1 exchange and as big a market as you can early on. Players sell things for way less than the NPC traders.

I'm really hoping this is the beginnings of a backlash. There are all kinds of eminent people now beginning to call her on her bullshit (Admittedly sometimes in their own self-interest, the Commisioner of the Metropolitan Police has suddenly realised that his budgets are being cut to pay for more CCTV, for example), and being labelled "wacky" by the Tabloids tends not to be good for one's political career.

Some laws are just so restrictive, some publishers tend to say "fuck it, you're not getting anything" instead of cutting their games to tiny greenblooded pieces. We never got Gears of War for example.

No, for Descrates there the ego cannot be the result of a physical process, and this he founds this precisely because of his extremely scientific philosophy. After all, Descartes philosophy was in part an attempt to vindicate Galileo. His dualism breaks down as such: res extensa, the physical world, is everything which takes up space and moves through space. The physical world is an (almost) infinitely reducible process of matter in motion, both moving and colliding through and against other matter. (Descartes even says in his Principia that there can be no void, and thus describes a sort of ur-String Theory conception of the universe.) Res Cogitans is the being which is unextended and is the process of reasoning: it looks at the sun and sees a big star, but can calculate despite and through the constantly changing physical world the size and proximity of the sun. Since this can be clearly and destinctly known, it is something which is not subject to time -- it is an eternal truth, even if it is true for that simple moment of cognition -- and is linked to the eternal nature of res cogitans. The mind is also memory, because there is no real way to believe that the future necessarily depends on the now, and each past was once a now. The mind is that agent which gives form to the physical world and synthesizes it to allow the world to be comprehended.
Granted that Descartes is hampered by his foundation in Scholastic philosophy and that he is pretty wrong about a lot of philosophical stances (at least I believe him to be), I think that your understanding of Descartes is wildly inaccurate and shot with misunderstanding. Descartes conception of the physical world is pretty damn mechanical and deterministic. His mind is not really a psychological apparatus, but more a rationalistic process, a subjective calculus. Give me some more questions / points of anger, I'd be more than happy to discuss.
