My friends computer seems to randomly display red lines on images.
Notice the faint red lines on the soccer player (they're kind of hard to see, but there's also a red line down the scroll bar on the right). Those lines stayed with the picture as I moved the window around. A few minutes later, faint green dots appeard around the mouse cursor. The red lines also started appearing on the buttons of the browser, and when I restarted the computer, thicker (but just as faint) lines showed up and flickered around the screen. I was thinking it's an overheating video card, but his computer is one of those Gateway computers that are just built in behind the monitor. He also doesn't play any games on it (aside from online poker), so the computer is never under a high workload. Any thoughts?
Could be dust causing the video hardware to overheat, or just a failed component somewhere along the line. In any case, I'd remove that buddy list from the screenshot before someone does something stupid.
