Seattle Tattoo Artists

I'm trying to decide where to go to get my first tattoo done. I've had my piercings mostly done at Apocalypse, which is on Capitol Hill. I know that Slave to the Needle is highly recommended. However, the artist there whose work most catches my eye, is Aaron Bell, of course.

I would like to find someone whose work meshes well with the idea that I have. I'd like to get a piece done down my left side with an Alice in Wonderland theming, a la American Mcgee's Alice. Something dark in theme.. I do think I want it to have color, if that helps any.

Aaron Bell charges $175/hour which is a little painful, especially when the minimum is $500. It's perfectly fine with me to pay that much, provided I get something amazing. I just don't want to miss out another artist who does great work. Thanks in advance!

if you don't mind going to Portland, there are some really good artists at Tigerlilly

175 really isn't that bad. i paid 150 an hour for my work in SF. how big a piece are you looking to get? at that rate 500 is like 3 hrs+ totally reasonable and if you really like the artist its worth it.

also go here and ask around Great tattoo related site
there are a ton of NW artists that post there

I've looked around bmezine's website some too, and used to be on a couple of live journal communities about body mods.. Portland isn't to bad, except if I have to do multiple sessions that could kinda be a pain. :( I know that $125-$175 is typical for pricing, I just am trying to sort out how much I'm willing to pay. I'm wanting to get the Cheshire Cat, Alice, and some background stuff done. Size-wise, maybe 5"x9", roughly. I'd like it to be on the side and slightly below the bottom curve of my, ah.. chest.

I didn't get my work done from Bell but I have gotten tattoos from Slave to the Needle and I don't think I could be more pleased. I know it's the most expensive but considering you have to live with the thing for the rest of your life I'd say it's worth the price.

Sounds like Apocalypse is right up your alley, with the dark theme and all. I'm happy with the one I got there.

I've seen some of the work done at Apocalypse, and at Slave to the Needle, and at the Laughing Buddha actually. Cost is not that big of an issue, I just wanted to make sure I was oblivous to some kick ass artist :)

Does anyone know any artists that will do lip tattoos? I know, a lot of artists are "better than that" and don't like to do them because they fade.. blah blah. But I really want one before I deploy. Any help would be great.

This seemed like an appropriate thread to jump into. I've been working on the same tattoo idea for eight years or so now. I'd like it to be in the pacific northwestern Native American / Haida / Salish style. It seems natural that the best place to have this done would be somewhere between Portland and Anchorage. (I live in Ohio these days, but am not against flying across the country for a tattoo)

Maybe some Artists could confirm this, but it seems that this is a distinct enough style that I should find an artist who specializes in this sort of thing. Any comments/suggestions?
