I'm getting this error when attempting to play DS2. It runs fine for about a half hour then this pops up randomly.

I'm running with a 512mb Nividia GeForce 7300 GT and have never had problems with other programs with this card. Anyway around this annoying error so I can get into the game more?

Do you have the latest updates for your video card driver?

    The latest version of DirectX?

    The latest patch for DS2?

Yes, yes, no... I'm looking for the patch right now, I'll try it out and see if anything is different.

I got the patch installed successfully and the game ran fine for about 1-2 hours then the error puts up again. I give up on it for a bit but I go to run WoW today and I get another error. This time it says: WoW was unable to start up 3D accelleration. Please makes use DX9.0c is installed.
I ran Dxdiag and checked the versions and its all matched up fine. When I tried to run the graphics tests it errors on the 8th step which is "creating 3D device". This goes away and works fine if I reboot though.
So... is there something wrong with my video card which is practically brand new or do I just have to reinstall direct x?

It really sounds like a software issue, i'd say go to Microsoft.com and find the latest DirectX redistributable download (as opposed to Windows Update), download and install it.

[edit] Also, check for updated motherboard chipset drivers or possibly AGP/PCIe controller drivers.

btw these are things I'd try, I've never actually seen this problem before.

I've updated my motherboard chipset, got the latest nvidia drivers there are and I'm still having the same problem. I've googled the error code and have seen many posts of people with the same problems but there is never a way to fix it. This is really getting to be a pain in the ass, expecially when I'm halfway through fighting something or right after I pick up some unique item and the game crashes.
