I think the Dreamcast should be re-released by Sega and all of Sega's new games will be released on it, plus, all of the accessories for the Dreamcast should be re-released with the same designs, even the Dreamcast will have the same design and the controller too, the marketing slogan could be called "Welcome back to 1999", what do you think of that idea?
I love to play games.
They're better than real life!
edit: Really though, there aren't enough fans of the Dreamcast to make anything even remotely like this a good idea. Pinning it on nostalgia? That's just an extra bad idea.
At most I'd like to see some of the better games on the system released on XBLA or PSN or what have you. Re-releasing the whole damned thing just seems like a waste of time.
Did you even see the post? I said all of Sega's new games could be released on the Dreamcast re-release, thanks to what you said, the new Dreamcast re-release (If it ever gets to see the light of day) could have new hardware, what do you think of that?

I think it's easy to say oh it'll have new hardware and play all the new games! voila!
Except theres probably several billion rea$on$ why this is stupid.
So you want Sega to make a new console, call it the Dreamcast, and release all their new games on it?
When the Wii is running away with sales figures to make every other hardware company in the world weep, while Microsoft and Sony are taking anything that's left over?

Do you purposefully want this idea to fail or..
Well, I THOUGHT that would work, I mean, the Dreamcast was awesome, I think it is a dream to play it.

I'd love to see the Dreamcast return, but it would never sell. Better to just enjoy what you already love about the Dreamcast by finding an old one and getting the games you love.
Really, as much of a Sega fanboy as I am, I can't see any financial reason for Sega to do something like this. I love my Dreamcast, but it just wouldn't make sense for them to do this.
1) GD-ROM production is over and finished. To start it up again would more than likely cost significant amounts of money; if this new Dreamcast didn't use GDs, then they would have to make the new drive capable of reading them.
2) The Dreamcast's graphics, while capable of holding their own at the time, are inferior to everything currently on the market; and while that hasn't stopped the Wii from reigning supreme, the DC lacks the new control schemes that have distinguished Nintendo's wünderkind.
3) Sega make a lot of money from being multi-format, and are considerably more flexible. Moving to just releashing on the DC would require them to relinquish those.
The DC saw some fantastic games and remains a fun console. It's my favourite of all those in my collection. But it just wouldn't make sense for Sega to revive it. Maybe if some smaller company could licence it, as Majesco did with the Genesis 3, it could return to the market, but the more likely possibility for a Dreamcast revival would be through online distribution to the Virtual Console or some similar service.
So, Sega should make a Dreamcast 2 then, is what you're saying? And make games just for that?
They wouldn't even be able to compete.
Ok, how about a completely new console with a couple feature from the Dreamcast (like bring back the old, dead SegaNet service), and then publish all of Sega's new games on there, and then codename the damn thing Project RINGO and then - what happens next?!

I don't really understand what you're going for here. The Dreamcast was great, but there's no reason to believe a follow up would have half the magic that it did.

Then Nintendo releases its upgunned Wii, codenamed Huckleberry, and wipes the floor once again.

Then the new Dreamcast remake should use DVDs so there is even LESS of a chance it will fail again, and have new hardware so it is move up to date, besides, the Sonic franchise hasn't been doing so well on consoles that are NOT made by Sega (Except the ones on the DS), so if Sega goes back to the console business, it could save the franchise! What do you think of THAT?

I would burn the Dreamcast from history completely if it would get me re-releases of some Saturn titles like Dragon Force.
And I loved my Dreamcast.
I believe that's actually because it's hard to port Saturn game or something. Which is a shame. I'd love to see a re-release of Panzer Dragoon on anything: PSN, XBLA, WiiWare, anything!

So basically, you just want Sega to make a brand new console and compete. What good do you think that will possibly do except send Sega right back to financial hell? And what in the world makes you think that Sega hardware will automatically make a Sonic game good. The developers could make a good Sonic game for any system if they can make a good Sonic game at all.

Most people would be turned off by (now) dated graphics, and lack of a large game library.
GM: Rusty Chains (DH Ongoing)
so basically the same reasons the dreamcast failed the first time around?

It failed because it didn't have copy protection, and it was inferior to the PS2 (In terms of what the PS2 offered, including DVD).

WHAT?!?! Okay, that's just funny.

And no, the slogan is terrible too.
Oh shit, someone go get a theremin.
He's right, ya'know. I can't think of anything outside of the Dreamcast and Mr. Bungle's "California" that was great about 1999.
EDIT: Actually, my favourite band started in 1999, and Metal Gear Solid came out then too. Not too bad, I guess.
Be fair. There's no evidence he's a troll. He's just sold on an idea that is sadly unrealistic.
