So I just finished building a new system with dual 4870's running in crossfire mode (which dictates that I have to have both monitors plugged into the first card) but now whenever I boot up the system, the second monitor just tells me "no signal received" and shuts off. The system still sees the monitor, and I can drag windows and my taskbar over to it, but it still won't turn on.
If I disable the second display in the windows display manager or Catalyst Control Center, then re-enable it, it shows up, and I can work normally, but it's a severe pain having to do this every time. I've tried reinstalling and updating my drivers, with no change.
Most likely an issue with using crossfire for a dual monitor set up. Try contacting ATI to see if they're aware or have any resolution. I haven't been able to find anything.

Does it do the same thing if you go to sleep mode instead of a hard boot?
Sometimes I just sleep my computer and turn off the speakers/monitors manually, might not be the most environmentally friendly thing but my power bill is low so it can't be that bad.
I was having a similair problem with my insignia television connected to my 9800gt as a 2nd monitor...
I never figured out why exactly it was doing it but after I:
(1) unplugged and reconnected the dvi
(2) flipped the inputs over to component and back
(3) reseated my video card
it stopped happening? I'm thinking mainly it was a loose pin on the dvi connector not causing the power-on to the monitor to get through, but I'm by no means an expert on these subjects.
