mk vs dc locking up

for ps3. in story mode, mk side, as soon as i beat green lantern the screen goes blank and the system locks up. if i powercycle, as soon as i choose story mode again, it locks up right at the story mode choose your side screen. if i delete the save, then i can play story mode again, but only up until i beat green lantern. other modes (such as arcade or online) work perfect. anyone else have issues like this? do i have a bad disc or what? this is my first and only game i have for ps3 so far (just got the system the other day).

    Was it a brand new system, or used? I played it on the 360 and didn't have any problems, but you can probably exchange the disc wherever you bought it and try that out.

    Do you have your PS3 connected to the internet? There was a patch that was released shortly after the game came out.

    Is it possible your PS3 is just attempting to save you from having to play it?
