Forgetting Janine Melnitz

Judd Apatow's name has been attached the rumors about Ghostbusters 3 since they first began, with all reports saying he would be the producer for the film written by The Office writers Lee Eisenberg and Greg Stupnitsky. Now the production has gotten so close to actually happening that Production Weekly is listing it-- and wouldn't you know, Apatow Productions is right there in charge.

Not too surprising, since Apatow seems to have his fingerprints on pretty much every worthwhile modern comedy, but man - this could be pretty dang neat.

Still not as cool as Michel Gondry directing the Seth-Rogen-penned Green Hornet movie, but then again, what could be?

Seriously, this seems terrible. Nobody from the original cast is interested in doing it again, why would you do it again? The series does not need a reboot, because it was not fucking terrible.

    Right, but that's not a reboot, it's a sequel.

I don't see how it could be bad if all the guys are willing to do it. It will not be good if they can't get them together or if some of them phone in their acting.

Let us say the execution will be the part containing the most failure.

On its surface the notion of a thrid Ghostbusters movie isn't perhaps as outwardly offensive as, say, pig shit.

Man I am generally a pretty cynical dude too, but I'm at least gonna wait until I see a trailer before writing it off completely and getting all pissy.

Plus mainly I just really like the title I came up with for this thread

I dont doubt the writing and the fmv cutscenes will be great. But looking at the development history of the game, the scrapped builds and the fact that the developers best game ever was BloodRayne let's just say no matter how terrible the prospects of a movie are without any original cast, I dont hold much hope for the game being that great either. Particularly because of the choppy development and the swapping of publishers etc etc.

Could be good though. Perhaps shitty was too strong a word. Though I'll withhold judgment until a demo lands. I mean it would be silly to write it off before even seeing it.
