New sketches

I've been doing some new sketches, many of which from pictures, but most are just detail oriented. Most of which are done using ink over pencil, although I used a blue pen for one of these. I appreciate critique, but keep it constructive, I'm not here to start a flame war so go somewhere else if that's all you want. Anywho, here we are. I appaulogize for the quality, my scanner bed is too small for most, and some have been heavily cut to get as much of them into the scan.

Man, football eyes. The lips too, you are drawing symbols. You need to learn how to properly observe a subject/reference and I would suggest doing some exercises on that. Look up doing a grid drawing. It breaks down a reference into, well, a grid, and each square is not really anything recognizable on its own. You copy the values in small and easy to manage squares which will create a more convincing drawing when it's all done. This can help in learning to see things properly and not just default to the simple shapes that your brain remembers.

Even better: look at real eyes and lips.

Addendum: All the shapes you know are made up of other shapes, and the shapes those shapes make look nothing like the shapes you know.

Ok, I'll put a focus on not drawing football lips and eyes, and see if I can get out of that habit. I appreciate the time it took to make that diagram, crawdaddio.

Your sadness makes me sad; why does it make you sad?

    Also: What ND said.

because the drawings that they use as the "right" drawings are still not very "right"

    Actual--

    I mean--yes..."they"...
I spent about ten minutes trying to think of a justifiable excuse (I'm still bad with a quill pen?), but I got nothin'.

To be honest, the "tutorial" seems to have some residue of the same problems it's looking to correct. D: Doesn't necessarily mean that you don't get the concept, but maybe it's just not being shown all that well in those two images.
