Renting PS3 games tonight- Need Advice!! Friday 3/6

edited March 2009 in Games and Technology
I'm looking for advice on 2-3 games to rent tonight for PS3. Me and a few friends are getting together to smoke, drink, and play video games. My friend has Rainbow Six: Las Vegas 2 and a Gran Turismo type racing game. What I need are a few options in different genres that Blockbuster would have that will be fun for baked, drunk kids to play & that are relatively easy to pick up. I'm already thinking Street Fighter IV, but looking for a few other ideas. Maybe a zombie shooter or a Streets of Rage style beat em up. And I need these suggestions in the next hour or three. I am good at planning ahead. Help, Penny Arcade!

Street Fighter 4 would work very well. Warhawk would be great as well... How many people do you need to be playing at once?

If drug use is involved, you really, really, really need to download Noby Noby Boy.

Call of Duty 4 or 5 would be fun (especially 5 with the Nazi Zombie campaign, but I think you need to beat the game first to unlock it)

Warhawk is fun. I don't know if you like wrestling games but Smackdown vs Raw 09 is really fun when you have a group of people playing. You could also try Resistance 2 or Killzone 2 for more shooters.

It'll be 2-4 people playing, forgot to mention that initially. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Keep them coming!

CODX is too involved for the kind of drunken sausage-fest he's talking about. I do second SFIV, though.

Sounds like fighters might be the way to go.

Soul Calibur 4 is the only other one I can think of, but then I wasn't following fighters on PS3 until SF4, so...what are the other fighters on PS3?

Dead or Alive 4 (is it 4?) is on the PS3.

Call of Duty: Kill Zombies sounds good. How long is the portion you have to beat to unlock it?

And we'll be more baked than drunk if that matters.

    What? No.

It's definitely not on the PS3.

Other than that I second Street Fighter 4.

Ah, not sure if they released a patch for it (they were supposed to, so you didn't have to unlock it) but the campaign itself is 6-8 hours. You can play through it co-op, so you can switch off after each level or something.

What was the other fighting game that was similar to Tekken. Came out early in the PS3's life... Then came out on the 360 with online support... What was it?

It's a bit too hardcore to pick up and play though.

Soul Calibur 4 is a better option for 3D fighters.

    Oooh, get Motorstorm 2.

So from poking around online it looks like you don't have to beat CoD to get the zombie level in the latest patch. I don't own and rarely play PS3 but it works the same as PC online games, right? Once you're online it downloads the latest patch and you're good to go. Or am I missing a step?

Super Stardust HD with the MP pack if you'd rather download. Lots of fun for that.

SC 4 or Street Fighter seem to be good choices, also Naruto if you are into that sort of thing...

You could also get Blood on the Sand, maybe it won't seem like such a ridiculous story.

    SFIV or SC4 for fighting.

    COD4 or KZ2 for Shooting.

Any of the Lego games since you'll be baked. LBP would also suffice if everyone doesn't mind watching you play while they get the giggles.

Rent the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection. Play Streets of Rage 1, 2, 3.

Or, as others have said, Little Big Planet.

Why has no one mentioned the last guy?
Or even that super rub a dub demo? That one kinds sucked but half the fun of playing baked is learning how to play the mo fo.
When you get tired of watching buddies play those try that orchestra flash game the boards had up.
The game were playing tonight is called youtube mashup where you try to find the best videos while drinking and whatever. Having some sober buddies on im to conduct really helps.

For weed purposes; Star Wars or Batman. But they are all equally awesome and hillarious.
