So, like some people, I have a PSP. I think its battery is shot.
Thing is, it's a launch model. And I believe the new models have different batteries in them. So what can I get as a new battery for this, and how will that affect my battery life to get one of the new batteries instead of an original-model one? Am I just hosed and need to go get a new entire PSP?

Thanks in advance.
A quick search on Amazon shows a bunch of batteries that say that they would work on the original PSP. You can also check your local EB/Gamestop or whatever and see if they have any of the original batteries in the back for sale still. So, no need to pick up a whole new system.
Watch out for the super cheap ones. I bought one a ways back on ebay(first mistake). It worked for like a week and wouldn't hold a charge any more. Go for an official one to be safe.
That one would probably be fine, but the sellers on that page are all selling different batteries. Hopefully someone that bought a good spare battery can weigh in.

If you want to be sure, even the "new" batteries are compatible with the older 100x models. They are just repackaged with a new battery door for the 200x model.
Then I'll just poke into a store and snag a fresh one.
Does Best Buy still sell 'em? I couldn't find them listed on the site, but I've got more than enough to spend there via a gift card to make them ideal.

And I'm guessing the batteries for the newer PSPs don't work?
The only thing about CodeJunkies is that they have kind of slow shipping. My order sat in the warehouse for four days before they even mailed it.
ed: Actually this one has more power per charge and is the same price: http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/PSP-X2-Battery__EF000064.aspx
