PI, why are you watching Wild Things
Because it's melodramatic, baroque trash and, at the end, Neve Campbell is going to kiss another woman's titties. I'm about half way through and I've laughed more at this than any other comedy I've seen lately.

I'm not alone in this line of thought.

Man, I love Roger Ebert but he will give absolute garbage a thumbs up if there's enough titties in it

he will also give garbage 4 stars if he agrees with it politically (rendition, in the valley of elah)

I generally agree with Ebert about most movies, so if he gives it a 4 star rating I know its pretty decent. I have to take into account what genre it is though if I would agree with him or not though.

Such as giving Knowing a 4. He is very generous to Sci-Fi movies.

    And he hates horror
Just because most of them are immoral exploitational shit
I don't think he should hold that against the whole genre

Well, if he doesn't like most of them and if most of them are attrocious, well then, logically. . .

Whenever Ebert does like or dislike a film for an irrational reason, he always lets his readers know this fact, and even if he is being silly he lets you understand why he feels that way. He's a rather agreeable old man.

I agree with this, although I often don't agree with Ebert. He's a good reviewer, just not one whose tastes tend to mesh with my own.

I think being a good critic is more about understanding why you enjoy something or why it's important and not what you like. I mean, there's no accounting for taste.

So I went to see Quantum of Solace at the student theater last night

usually when they show a movie, they show the same trailers that were attached during the movie's actual theatrical run, even if they've since come out

    but last night we had:

Be Kind Rewind (about a year old)
    Elizabethtown (about 4 years)
    The Limey (uh... 10 years)
and ESCAPE FROM L.A. (13 years ago!)

    it was very confusing

So it seems that Avatar: The Last Airbender: Book 1 is up on Instant Queue.

this is good news because it means (according to me) that if enough people queue it up and watch it, the other seasons will be put up as well.

and that would rule because then i could actually watch it all the way through.

so god damned queue up that show now.

No idea. They took over amazon UK's dvd rental thing but they're not amazon at least. It's the exact same thing as Netflix. Except they don't have the instant-download/xbox service. We have netflix for the Xbox, but no physical dvd rental Netflix. It's all very annoying.

    Next up - Disk 2 and...hmm, a surprise
