Castle is an American drama/comedy television series starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic. Fillion stars as Richard Castle, a famous mystery novelist who is called in to help the NYPD solve a copy-cat murder based on his novels. Katic stars opposite Fillion as the young, attractive detective Kate Beckett. While technically a drama series, Castle also features comedy and romantic tension. Inspirations for the TV series include Moonlighting, The Rockford Files, and Robert B. Parker's Spenser series.
Basic Synopsis:
This Guy
Is a mystery novelist called into the help
This Girl
solve a case (which he solves better then her). But after she foolishly tempts him with sex he pulls some strings with the mayor and decides he is going to write his newest book modeled after her which means he gets to follow her everywhere.
The show is Nathan Fillion solving cases by thinking about how it would be written a book all the while seducing women and men alike with his charm. And now he has a quest of boning an aggressive detective.
Sexual Tension!
So this premiered tonight with an excellent pilot and I wanted to know what everyone else thought about it?
Meet the bad boy/girl ***. S/He plays by noones rules. Until s/he meets ****. **** is a by-the-numbers type of person. And when these two meet, crazy things will happen. And one of them is a cop.
Together, they will fight crime, while fighting the urges for each other.
*ONE WORD TITLE THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE NAME OF SOMEONE/SOMETHING*
Fillion was great. The show was not. Maybe it'll get better though.
I don't think it will get the axe right away. With that stupid dancing show as a lead-in, it should get a lot of old women watching. Case in point: my mom watched it and liked it.
i have it on dvr, gonna watch tonight probably. i'm just afraid its gonna be a poor imitation of bones, and the only reason i watch bones nowadays is the deschanel-boreaniz chemistry. i'm hopeful though!
also, still pissed off drive never got a resolution. as poopy as it was, i just want closure.
this is on my pvr. I am waiting to watch it tonight.
I saw the first bit of it though. The mother needs to go. The daughter I like. Kind of an ABC version of the "Californication" daddy/daughter relationship from the look of it.
I saw the first bit of it though. The mother needs to go.
But she's a man-eating older woman that likes to drink. What a card!
That's probably what the creators said when they pitched that character. Speaking of no new ideas in 20 years, I think it's also what was said about the Golden Girls.

From everything I've read, this is more or less the case - it's Bones without the chemistry.

Yeah this is pretty bad
Fillion and the police chick are pretty good, but they do not have a lot to work with. The writing is slipshod and flows very poorly most of the time
I'll still watch it though, until it gets canceled
though it's disconcerting how much nathan fillion's character is who I hope to be in a decade or so. smarmy, narcissistic playboy writer.
Playboy the adjective, not...a writer for Playboy, the magazine. Though to be fair it has featured it's share of excellent short stories/excerpts of novels.
Yeah I dunno, this seems lame as hell. Actors/actresses that are in this show seem to have been chosen because of their quirky handomeness/hotness levels — and nerds seem to test well for that sort of thing.

Nathan Fillion should be in a life action Wonder Woman movie.

Wow, this was a fun show.
It just happened to be on the TV when I ordered my pizza and I sat down to watch it just because of Fillion's charisma.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
The end worked, when they were just on the case. I enjoyed that part.
The setup was totally hamfisted, though.
I agree with the guy who said 2 short seasons.
Edit: Since the 2 season post was in D&D, I'll elaborate. ABC is pushing this show really hard, and even gave it their absolute best lead-in. They really want this to succeed, so I have a feeling it'll get a small order for a second season no matter how poorly this abridged (probably 11-14 episodes) season does.

Can't I just enjoy Nathan Fillion solving crime and banging cops?

Waka

It's just so goddamned generic.

I dunno. Whenever they make the trailers for these things nowadays, all I can see are the cliches.
He is like some kind of poison to television shows!
and Two Guys and a Girl
kinda
Yeah, but that show sucked dick.

except for Fillion, who gets almost unanimous praise
but I am notoriously easy to please
i like nathan fillion
he is a good dude
so i'm gonna watch this and hope it doesnt get canceled even though it will
Most ideas in Hollywood haven't been new for at least 20 years. Not every show can be a LOST or Wire. Plus some people enjoy cliche.

Everything else he's been in has been lackluster. He gets amazing praise in all of them but he's not enough to keep the show alive.
Who is to blame here? Him or his agent? Cause damn.
Other than Firefly, of course.

He'd make the tiara and lasso work fabulously, but I don't think he'd do the bustier any justice.

To be fair few actors can carry a show just by themselves...
A couple weeks back I was watching LOST and they had a commercial for this.
"Oh great, another cop show- Nathan Fillion! Mmm.. Yes"
And here I am.
