I just put on my winter tires (Bridgestone Blizzaks on 15" steel wheels) for the season, and one of the valve stems is leaking. Every time I pressurize the tire I can hear (and feel) air coming out of the valve. Are there any ways for me to try to fix this myself? Is it something a tire shop should be able to fix? Should I expect Bridgestone to fix/replace the tire? (They're about three years old, but low mileage since I only drive them in the winter.)
The stems are replaceable but you are better off to get it done by a shop. They will take off the tire, pop out the valve stem and put in a new one using that glue solution they use to hold the tire to the rim of the wheel. Dpending on the shop, they will re-balance the tire (as they should) before putting it back on. It should cost less than 20$ to have it done.
Is the valve-core screwed in all the way? The valve-core is the valve assembly, which screws into the stem (the inside of the stem is threaded).
You can use a valve-core driver to tighten it, but a pair of needle-nosed plyers would probably work too. Just be careful not to bend, pinch, or overtighten the core.
[edit] You can also buy four-packs of cores at pretty much any parts or tire shops. I can't remember if it's $3 each or $3 for a four pack.
