Hey everyone, I've taken lead from some other communities I occasionally venture into and created what has become known to be a Meta Gamertag. To explain, here is some information I have garnerd from other sources -
What are Meta Gamertags?
Meta Gamertags are enhanced friends lists, similar to a clan. They are made possible by the Friends of Friends feature introduced in the 2007 fall update, which allows players to browse the friends lists of other Gamertags. Oddly enough, Tycho actually mentioned on a blog post something about the idea to create a dummy account and use the public friends list as a clan roster. It is likely other Meta Gamertags exist around the PA Forums but this is one created to service the PAX Forum folk, depending on demand, other sub-meta Gamertags may pop up.
Why should I use Meta Gamertags?
There are several advantages in using them. Mainly, it keeps your own friends list more clear and manageable and helps you organize games with fellow PAX Forumers.
How can I join?
Just send a friend request to the MGT you want to join. Your Gamertag usually will be added in the next few days. You can PM me (CuZZa) to prod me into logging into the account and accepting the friend request but I will try to do this regularly.
I have added all of the people I have on my current friends list and trawled a few threads here grabbing Gamertags from signatures. If you're not interested, don't join, but it is a good group to be in on for PAX related shenanigans. Note: Live Gamertags also cross over to Games For Windows Live so you can also add them there to find people for GFW Live games!
