So I'm in the market for Co-Op 360 games. Right now, I'm playing through Resident Evil 5 with someone, and it's incredibly fun. She's suggested Gears of War for the next one, and probably GoW2 following that, but that's about where we run out of ideas.
Does anyone know of any other good Co-Op experiences? I'm also looking for any sort of survival horror game available for 360 or PS2 that is actual survival-horror and not Resi 5 (even though it's awesome) and also not ridiculously expensive and hard to find.
I like Earth Defense Force 2017, but I gather it's a love-it-or-hate-it experience. Pew pew pew. It's kind of like Crimsonland in 3D. Other than that I think most everything on the list is fairly self-explanatory as far as what kind of game it is.
Left 4 Dead is co-op and survival horror-ish, but I assume you know about that already.
Dead Space was fun enough as a (single player) survival horror game. Are you looking for lower profile games than these? I was going to mention Halo 3 for the co-op part, but I figured it went without saying.
There are some great co-op 360 games on XBox Live Arcade. Castle Crashers, Geometry Wars 2, and Heavy Weapon are all fantastic co-op experiences and they'll only cost you $10-$15 a piece.

Any of the LEGO games are fun co-op, though they might be a bit on the kiddie side if you've been doing Gears and RE5.

Halo 3 can be played in coop for the full campaign.
Gears of Wars 1 & 2 as mentionned are also great picks.
Too human is also an option.
As for survival horror, you absolutely need to play DeadSpace. RE5 is NOTHING compare to that game. DeadSpace is closer to the real "survival horror genre", espicially at higher difficulty levels.
Schizoid. It's designed from the ground up to be co-op. You can't even play a regular single player mode (you control both players if you play single).
edit: not survival horror but definitely gets tense as the game gets harder.

Agreed (one of us always posts these games!)
And EDF 2017 is awesome. But not co-op over Live.
I don't think you can same-screen co-op Halo 3, but I love playing that co-op over Live. Halo Wars is fun co-op too.
Also, Rock Band 2 is pretty much as good as it gets. Incredible co-op game.

Halo3 can be same screen co-oped. I did it with a friend while skull hunting.
I'll put in a vote for Mercs 2. Should be able to get it for less than $20 these days. It's not perfect (mostly AI issues) but it can be really fun blowing everything up. And I mean everything.

thats all cool and everything but neither Deadspace nor Too Human offer offline co-op. I suppose you could do some pseudo co-op type single player but played as a team sort of thing, but Too Human wouldn't really lend itself to that style of co-op.
Earth Defense Force 2017, if you can find it. It's a budget title, but extremely fun co op, as long as you enjoy mowing down thousands of giant ants and also giant robots and also cyborg godzilla.

Bugs aside, I love Mercs 2 (you really can blow up everything). The tagline for the game should be: "Every problem on Earth and in Heaven can be solved with High Explosives".
However, there's no splitscreen option (unlike in Halo 3, GOW1/2, RE5). Just keep that in mind.

Arcade games:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game
Castle Crashers
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

I'd second the lego games, although only Lego Starwars The Complete Sega is playable over Xbox live.

9th of April, 2008.
I have a monitor that turns 90 degrees too
It is 800 MS Points on the live arcade.
Edit: It is very pretty.
It's a little known (completely legal) ROM hack, go here to find out more about it.
