[PRIME] Hotel Discussion Thread and Poll (Hotels are booked!)
Okay, so I registered at the Grand Hyatt right when this thread went live. I just now realized that the card I secured my reservations with expires in September. I don't know if this means expires ON September 1st or if it is good after. I know they will send me a new card, but I don't know if it will have the same number. I just checked the PAX travel desk and there is no option to change the card without canceling the reservation first, then re-submitting the dates. Obviously I don't want to do that as they are probably filled up now.
Do I need to worry about my reservation or should I be good?

Card number is just to hold the room. When you check into the hotel, just make sure you present your new card to them and tell them, "I'll be paying with this." It shouldn't be a problem at all.
Any idea on how early you are allowed to check in? My friends and I were planning on arriving in Seattle on Wednesday but then I realized that our check in isn't until Thursday...
Is there a certain time to you have to wait to check in?
I'm thinking there probably is.
I went ahead and switched my reservation to the Sheraton because of the price drop. So now the Grand Hyatt may have at least another room available for anyone who may need it.
Anyone staying at or had experience with the Inn at Virginia Mason? Seems a cheap option while still relatively close to the Convention Centre (about 6 blocks).
supposed to be staying at the hilton but when we called to confirm the reservation, they say there is no such thing. gotta call monday and find out whats going on.
Selected No Hotel because there wasn't an 'Other' option..
A hostel that had closed has re-opened in a new location just yesterday it seems (7/31).. Hostel International - Seattle is back and is right close to Union Station, about a 10 minute bus ride to the convention center.

My understanding is that until shortly before the event all of the rooms are booked under the name of the travel desk. I don't know how shortly before but our names will be transferred over so that we can check in. At least, someone said that earlier in the thread.
When I spoke to the "PAX Travel Desk" they told me about two weeks they give the hotels the list of reservations. They is also no guarantee we'll get exactly what we requested.
(for example I requested two beds, but there is no guarantee that we'll get that. seriously, next year I'm going to book directly with the hotel.)

If I don't get two beds, I'm going to be raising hell right there in the hotel lobby.
Talked to the Moore Saturday and they said everything was confirmed. You know though, nothing is ever set in stone. There are a lot of places to stay if things fall through, they're just not close.

I booked with Red Lion....I should have checked the threads!
The Red Lion is a nice place to stay at just to stow away your luggage/goods, to shower and to snooze for however long you wish/need to. Of course, really, that's any place when it comes to this.

Bah! the hotel now has my reservation, and when I called to confrim what kind of room I have instead of two queens like I requested. I got a king and a pull out couch. that counts as "two beds" and If i want the two queens like i originally wanted, I have to pay an upgrade fee.
*SIGH*

Anyone looking to cancel their Sheraton reservation? I looked a couple days ago and they still had rooms, now they are booked solid for the entire hotel (not just the PAX attendees area) so that sucks....
I am staying at the Westin this year, I like the round tower design, great views. The beds and showers are nice and it is within walking distance, only like 4 blocks.

I am trying to find a hotel and am having like NO luck with anything that isn't 11 miles away. I think I'm doing it wrong.
If you don't mind staying in a hostel, then check out http://www.hiusa.org/seattle it's about 2 miles from the convention center. Use code j1 for a discount.

Bus and Light-Rail is within 500 yards of the hostel too, the bus ride to the convention center falls within the free-ride zone as well during certain hours.
So to make a long story short, I just quit my job to do that Jetblue all you can fly deal. When I saw PAX was the weekend before my flight pass starts, I decided to fly up to Seattle first. I'm so freakin excited!
Seeing as I just quit my job, I can't afford those nice close hotels to the convention center. I was looking into good ol Motel 6 by the airport. At first I was turned off by the distance, but then I called their front desk. The lady there said it's only 15 minutes to the convo center via transit. That's not bad at all so I'm thinking of going with it. Any thoughts?
the hiusaseattle link right above you is like $15/day if you're under 35yrs old. i'd say it's a 10-20min walk to PAX from there. and there's a free bus line next to it that can cut about half the walk time. so if you don't go to your hotel except when you're done for the day, that should be fine.

Thanks for the suggestion! I think this is what I'm gonna do. I love walking a city (as long as it's safe!) and the transit option is great. Plus it's close enough that a 2am taxi ride would be nice and cheap too!
As someone who works at a hotel in downtown Seattle (Hotel Max, though I'll be on vacation for PAX :P ) , I thought I'd throw my two cents in about a question or two. If you have extra people staying in a room, just don't tell the hotel, as we don't usually care as long as you're not causing problems. Also if you tell them, they may be ok with it but at an extra cost.
About check-in time, if you're not picky about your room you can usually check in as early as one gets cleaned based on when people checked out from the night before. And if not, then almost all hotels offer some form of luggage holding so you can drop all your crap off, yay!!

I'm going to be at Hotel Max. (Hooray priceline, I think it was 80/night.) From looking at the website, it seems like the kind of place that If for example I were to call room service and ask for an 'Adult Toy', they would send me up sampler platter to choose from. I think this is amusing and look forward to seeing what the place is like. Any tips/info on what that hotel is like?
Dunno if anyone's been adventurous enough to use the kitchen in their room at the Homewood Suites before, but I'm considering hitting up Pike Place Market for some fish on Thursday evening. That's not really a good choice if the stoves are underpowered, though.
So, if you've been there, do you know if the stoves do get hot enough to use?

Ummm, actually theres a Vibrator in the room. It cost 8 bux.
Seriously.
They charged us for it last year and we did not use it nor see it..
ALso they overcharged my friends Credit Card in a few different ways.
It was later fixed with a couple of phone calls.

Yeah, I had to use a different card last year because of this.

Argh.. I don't want to pay 200 bucks a night for place I'm barely going to use.

And I'll do the same if I don't get just one bed. On the other hand, I'd also trade anyone who got 1 bed and wanted 2.
yeah, i called and thats what they told me.

Most likely you just ask for two keys and share them, as sucky as that sounds. You could ask for more, but it would arouse suspicion.
