Hi everyone! I have Paint Shop Pro Ultimate X2 and I need some help. I'm trying to get one color to stand out in a black and white photo and I have no idea how to do it. Can someone please give me a good set of directions?

Below is an example of what I would like to do.

If anyone can please help me, that would be fantastic. :)

Not sure about PSP, but with Photoshop I would just magic wand the leaf, select Inverse, then convert to grayscale.

I always use layers and a mask.

Duplicate the background layer onto a new layer.
    Grayscale the new layer.
Right click on the new layer and add a mask that shows all.
Click on the new mask layer and erase the areas that you want to show up as colored.

Okay... that sounds easy enough... but... how would you duplicate a layer? I'm not that familiar with paint shop.... :( Sorry.

Okay... how do you Grayscale the new layer? When I do that, it changes everything to a grayscale.

Don't use Image->Greyscale. Use Effects->Photo Effects->Black and White. That affects only the current layer.

1)Right click on the now black and white layer and select new mask layer ->show all.
2)Erase (or paint black) any area on the mask that you want to show through and be colored

It doesn't come out as bright as I wanted, but I think I might be able to mess around with the settings a bit. :) Thank you so much again!

You can play with the color on the original layer a bit.
