Army job + laptop!

Real quick questions... Don't really have any other place to ask.

First is about an Army MOS if anyone knows. I'm interested in enlisting as an M-1 abrams armor crewman, but I'm curious, once you get a position(driver, gunner, loader) are you stuck in that position? Or do they rotate? That may be the deciding factor in which MOS I choose. I'd hate to get stuck being say, a loader, for my length of service.

Laptops! I'd want to get a laptop that would do me well when deployed. 15 to 17 inch is fine, prefer it to play at least modern games, yet not bank-breakingly expensive. Anyone have any personal preferences?

You know as an Abrams crew you're potentially not going to be anywhere near civilization right? The Army doesn't have those cooshy deployments that SOME branches have (I'm in the Air Force).

Also there's a gigantic military thread in H/A. Try posting there, it's pretty useful.

I know nothing about this topic other than I think the tankers like to have guys of average or slightly below average height. A tank isn't exactly a roomy place.

Again, this could be totally wrong, but I think the largest guy in the crew is the loader, for obvious reasons.

I'm not a tanker, but I was attached to a tank company and scoped out kinda how they do things. The job you get seems based on your rank, when you go in as a private you will more than likely be a driver, as you get promoted or the rest of your crew gets promoted or moves on you'll go up the chain, to loader, gunner, and finally commander. That way the highest ranking person has the experience of all the positions. Just remember that nothing in the Army is garunteed and spots may open and close and people will move on, crews will constantly change and you can go anywhere. Forgot to mention, but more than likely you won't be running any kind of shift that will move you from spot to spot on a daily basis.... Other than jumping in the gunner seat for guard duty, always fun. Anyways, unless you're a major screw up you won't get stuck in the same spot forever :P

Awesome awesome information everyone :) Any rough estimates on what a size requirement might be (if any?) I'm 69 inches (5'9"). Not very tall.

im 6'0 and have been inside an M1A1 and could sit fine in all three seats, i didn't try the driver seat because the gun was facing forward.

5'9 should be plenty of room and i don't think there actually is a requirement for height.
