Alcohol after a hot bath

Is it unhealthy to have a hot bath and then drink something like half a bottle of wine within 2 hours of each other? I've been advised not do the reverse (drink and then bathe).

No it is not. Your body temp will have returned to normal

I always thought the "don't drink and bathe" thing was in reference to people getting massively drunk and then drowning themselves in the bathtub.

Well 2 hours is probably fine, but I do think that drinking very soon before or after a hot bath or hot tub is likely to make you woozy or light-headed.

Given the numbers of time I've been drinking while in a hot bath, I can confidently say that there's nothing wrong with it whatsoever. Maybe the heat relaxes vessels in the extremity, increasing the blood flow through the body and upping the absorption of alcohol, or something.

I'd say having someone get wasted and then pass out and slip under water might be the worry behind it though.

Unhealthy? No not really, unless you consider getting really buzzed to be unhealthy.

Drinking + hot tubs are the way to go :^:.

the reverse is so that you don't drown in a bathtub... lame way to go IMHO

that's like saying: I heard it's not wise to eat a large meal and then go swimming. Can I eat a large meal AFTER i go swimming? etc.

Getting cramps from swimming after eating is an old wives tale. No truth to it.

The idea is that alcohol and hot temperature both make your blood vessels dilate. So if you are an unfit person there is the danger of you passing out in the hot tub.
