Audio problem from msi mobo using optical

I have a sony stereo a/v reciever connected to the board via optical spdif and it's a 5.1 channel stereo system.
I have the system set to auto detect what kind of audio signal it's getting and perform accordingly.
I'm only getting 2 channel audio! and I cannot figure out for the life of me how to fix it.
I've installed and reinstalled the newest audio drivers....
Please Help!
