My phone is no longer a phone.

Hey, earlier today my LG Shine stopped making or taking calls. While I was in the shower, my friends sent me about 8 texts and called me 7 times, leaving about 5 voicemails. When I finally met up with them, they told me that they would have left more, but my phone started going directly to voicemail without ringing. I didn't think too much about it at the time, but not too long ago I tried to make a call, and there was just silence. No ringing or anything. After about 15 seconds, the call "ended". I told someone to try calling me, they said it just went straight to voicemail.

Now I just got a notification telling me I have 2 new voicemails, so I tried calling my voicemail, but it said "network malfuction" and quit out to the main menu. I tried again and it said "call ended".

Does anyone know what could be wrong with it/how to fix it? I tried turning it off and back on, but it did nothing. I've only had it for about 2 months now...

    You sir, are a paragon of helpful information.

    Sounds like your antennae isn't registering with the phone for some reason; quick tricks to fix this;

    switch on and off airplane mode on your phone.

    do a full out battery pull.

    not sure how computer-connected your phone is, but my iPhone started pulling crap like that a month or so ago. It would let me make calls and recieve them but it would say "call failed" within 5 seconds. Every time. I had never plugged my phone up to my computer. So I did, thinking it was a software problem. Apparently there was a "carrier update" i needed. no problems since. Good luck!

    That's usually the first thing people do to fix something and 95% of the time that fixes it.

    So it was helpful information.

    Borrow a phone and call your service provider or take it back to their shop. No one here is going to be able to help you any better then them. At best all we can do is sit around and take wild guesses at what could be any number of problems.

    Did you get it wet? If it was in the bathroom with you, then maybe it got condensation in it.

    if you have a 90 day warranty on it take it back and get a new one. i can not stress this enough. often enough it starts with this, then a fix comes, then it/something else crops back up outside of the warranty period.

    this is what that warranty is for.

    if you only had like a 30 day warranty then pull the battery and take out the sim. there should be a white sticker underneath both. if it has changed colors it's due to water damage... time to buy a new phone. if it hasn't changed colors hold the power button down for 15 seconds blow air into the holes to get rid of debris then reconnect and try again

    This is not entirely accurate.

    Every phone I've ever owned has had that water damage sticker activated and continued to work without problem to date. The only phone I've ever owned that physically stopped functioning was an LG 1000, like 5 years ago. Since then I've owned other models of LG phones, blackberry pearl, blackberry curve, and most recently a g1. every. single. last. one. water damage sticker has changed colors on me.
