So now that I find myself with a job where I sit in a cubicle 8 hours a day, I been thinking about purchasing a portable satellite radio. They let us listen to headphones, and I'm burning through my 8 gigs of music/pod casts, so I think satellite radio would be a good fit.
Anyone have any recomendations? I'm looking for not only good music stations, but interesting/funny talk stations too. How are the batteries on these things? USB charged, or actual batteries? Monthles fees? I'm pretty much a newb about all these things.
there are monthly fees it amounts to something like 15 dollars a month. sirius is probably best if you like talk radio. personally i like xm because it's got a smooth jazz station called watercolors. it's fantastic and made me stop hating smooth jazz. a lot of the other stations are pretty great too.
they should comewith/you can buy ac adapters for all of them (including car adapter for the drive)
They have been having some major business problems lately. Short of it, for the past few years they've been spending more than they make in pure operating costs.
Can you not use an internet radio station?

Check and see if your area has one. That takes the satellite signal and broadcasts it on terrestrial radio. I haven't used a portable one before. I can advise that satellite radio has been a great purchase for me, though.
If you can't get signal inside, you can still record the satellite radio if you have signal and then bring it inside and listen. So you could set it up so you could get signal at night, record at night, then bring it in. Talk shows usually repeat at night as well.

and yes monthly fees.
Sirius and Xm merged, but not its not a complete merger. Check their websites for the variances.
