New Punch-Out trailer: Pink suit is back! Monsty's fave is back and redder than ever

It looks like the trailer covers fighters from the first circuit. It has been said that later circuits will be more colorful and glamorous.

Hypnotically inclined.

The sad thing is, the first thing I thought was " Hey, thats the guy who stole mah bike! "

But seriously. God that video brought back so many wonderful memories. Makes me almost wish I had a Wii.

That looks really great in motion. Mario Strikers and its sequel was awesome, I'm hoping Next Level Games can pull off another hit.

Forgot where I read it, but the game will support either Wiimote & Nunchuk controls, holding buttons to change up punch types, or Wiimote-only NES-style play. Good to hear there are both options, since I'd be winded as hell playing it full-bore with motion controls all the time. :)

Looks like it's exactly the same as Super Punch Out but with prettier graphics. I liked those games back then but still... it's a game that'll be finished in an afternoon, with probably little replay value. All you have to do is learn the somewhat simple and heavily telegraphed patterns, which isn't very long.

Looks good. I wonder how many dudes you'll fight. The first two were awesome but a modern game is expected to have more content, you know?

Thirteen, if we are to believe press release. All boxers from NES version and three new ones. But then again, there is fair chance that game has hidden circuit.

So, Shadow of the Colossus, in other words. ;-)

I do hope they change up the patterns at least somewhat or make them more challenging—like how FFIV DS remixed the boss difficulty specifically to screw with people who memorized the original game's patterns—but so long as it plays well, who cares?

I miss the days when "replay value" meant "replaying a game because you think it's awesome" instead of "replaying to find unlockables or farm achievements."

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

This actually does look a lot better than initial screens led me to believe.

Also, Kid Disco? Is he new, or from Super Punch-Out? Never got to play the SNES one.

    There are no words!

There's something about this kind of remake that I like. I mean, on one hand you have neat stuff like A Boy and his Blob, which is looking pretty awesome. However the boy is younger, and it looks like things are being taken in a different direction, which is fine, the original didn't have particularly stunning gameplay or anything. But it's more of a greatly expanded remix than a remake.

This is a pure remake. The interactions you see between Mac and Doc are exactly what I would imagine based on the original, if it was a cartoon show or something. The characters are perfectly reimagined from ancient low res pixel art. The animation is just spectacular, as it should be, considering it's largely what the game is about.

It's true. I notice this becoming more and more prominent with PA in general: while big releases on any console can be quite polarizing, everyone loves the short, well-designed stuff, whether it be PSN or Wiiware. And while this isn't a Wiiware release it reminds me of that blunt and to-the-point style of greatness.

Oh I'm gonna enjoy the game that's fer sure. A lot I bet. But a small game with so little content as a Punch-Out doesn't deserve a full price purchase from me. I'll rent the game, probably beat it in an afternoon tops, and return it.

I guess for me it depends on the kind of game. Geometry Wars 2 for has no "content" to speak of, yet it has provided and will still provide me multiple hours of fun and it costs practically nothing to purchase. Punch-Out is a crappy value for my money in comparison.

Rewatching the trailer, it looks like there's already one game tweak thrown in: in the Glass Joe fight, the uppercut used all two available stars. Same thing at the end of the Disco Kid fight, where all 3 stars were available and the super punch attack used up all available stars. Maybe you have an option to use more than one star for a stronger attack?

Game supports two controller types; classic NES-era controls and motion-based controls. In motion based controls, you press button on respective hand's controller to determine height. Should work pretty pretty well.

I'm worried that the old fighters will have the same patterns as before. I'm buying it day 1 regardless, but it would nice if they mix it up a bit.

By the gods...I...I've waited so long. Is this real? It's not just an hallucination in the desert now that I am on the verge of dying from lack of Punch-Out? The small NES and SNES rations I had just ran out weeks ago, I have been living on pure hope until I saw this.

This better reach Europe fast, or there will be casualties. Bridges will be burned, Rubicons will be crossed and bunnies will suffer.
