The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I finally got an HDTV the other day, and it seems to work fine. However, when I hook it to the (comcast) cable box with a component cable I get black & white video with no audio. The TV works fine with my Xbox, which is also connected via component, and it worked fine connected to the cable via coax so I'm assuming this is a problem with either the cable box or the component cable I just bought. I don't have any other component cables to test, or anything else to test the cable I do have with.
If I'm leaving out anything relevant, let me know. Otherwise, got any suggestions?
I feel appropriately retarded now, but in my defense the audio inputs on the cable box are arranged exactly opposite to where they are on the TV
I have audio now, but still B&W video. Is this something obvious and aggravating like I need an HD box from Comcast? (when it was installed, an HDTV wasn't in my forseeable future) I figured anything and everything should be component-compatible, but if I'm being an idiot here let me know.
edit: the TV's menu is in color, so now I have a blue box superimposed over my black 'n white programming. The cable menus are also in B&W

If you are connecting with a component cable you connect the three leads (RGB) to the video input, and you need a separate set of leads for the audio.
