DRM-Free iTunes Question

I hate to make a new thread for this, but it didn't seem to fit into the existing ones.

All purchases on iTunes are now DRM free, right? Is that retroactive? I mean, songs I bought when they still had DRM, is that removed or is it still on there? If they're still locked, is there a legal way to unlock them?

On that note, you used to not be able to play iTunes purchased songs on the 360. Was that a function of DRM? Should I be able to play all my music over my 360 now?

99% of the library is now DRM free. But music you've previously bought still has DRM. You can "upgrade" to the non DRM'd versions for 30% of the original cost, so either 30 cents for a single song, for $3 for a full album.

Non DRM's iTunes music is still AAC, which is somewhat limited in support. Many players will play AAC, but I don't think the 360 supports AAC audio.

    Right.

The DRM is still there for any tracks you've purchased with it. You have to pay to have it removed (you'll find a link titled something like "Upgrade to iTunes Plus" on the iTunes store front page). If you still have iTunes < 7.5 installed then you can get rid of the DRM for free (without having to burn/rip them), but if not then you have to pay for it.

Don't know, but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to (if not, just transcode the DRM free tracks).

Ah, ok. Thanks. It kind of sucks that it's so expensive to strip the DRM out. I might just let it be.
