Quick query, I'd be grateful for some advice.
I want to get a copy of Monster Hunter 2G for PSP. Is this the best place to get it and does anyone know if this will be in english or have an english language option? The comments at the bottom of the page seem to suggest it will.
No English language (however, you can patch it if you have a 'customized' PSP). You're better off waiting for Monster Hunter Freedom United - the official release, which should be around June-July period.
Speaking of which, Capcom UK will apparently be opening some place in London as a gathering spot for MH players to play together. It will be open for one month, July, and close around 8pm everyday. Free sweets and fizzy drinks. I'll have to pop down there one day
Okay cool, thanks for the info guys. I guess I'll just wait for United, although I thought it was NA only?
No - apparently it will be released in the EU about the same period as the US release, fuck yeah

Right, I'm possibly in the market for a HDTV to hook my 360 up to, and not getting the most help at the moment. After doing some research and figuring I'm more likely to get picky over ghosting and viewing angle, I think I'd prefer plasma over LCD (but can be convinced otherwise if it's good), and I'm comfortable spending around £600 on it.
Seems like a good time at the moment with a tonne of Easter sales going on.
I got my Panasonic 42" PZ81 from Richer sounds for around £700ish quite some time ago. It may have dropped in price since then, it's an awesome plasma, 1080p with stunning black levels.
Also I've finished my spare room, I still need to get a mini-fridge for the corner and i could do with tidying a little but:
(Sorry about the motion but it was difficult to get a decent snap in action)
and when it looks tidy and I'm not sat here drinking beer playing SF4:
It's only a tiny 2m x 3m room but it's now set up perfectly for me!
Definitely looks good. I've been pondering getting a projector for a while, though definitely don't have the cash to spend in the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile: does anybody know of an online store that has the Mac version of Red Alert 3 in stock? Play.com, Amazon, and Game are all completely sold out.
Right, can someone point me towards a good, not-overpriced HDMI cable? I'm assuming the difference between that and composite will be worth the cost, right?
You'll see a considerable quality jump from Composite to HDMI. I picked up a cheapo one from Argos and that's been fine for me but I would recommend spending about £10 on them if you can afford it. I've found mine crapping out on me a little when changing inputs.
The site seems to have crashed. At least it's not loading the shopping cart, otherwise I'd be picking this up too. And I already own Burnout Paradise. It doesn't mention Connect 4 on the site, is that bundled into Trivial Pursuit?

Mine came in the jiffy bag as a scratch card thing. It's a double game box. So it's just the 2 discs and the card.

Oh and don't bother with the gold plated shit - doesn't make the slightest bit o difference when it comes to HDMI
Lies. Ok image quality doesn't degrade but it can affect the reliability. As I said, my cheaper one is iffy when it comes to switching sources, the cable also needs frequently 'tweaking' to get it to work.
Don't go for MEGA expensive but the gold plated are worth it.

Its the cable not hte quality. I had one £13 off Play, had to do what you do, tweak it to make it recognised and by the end that didnt work. Replaced that with two 6.99 ones, one for PC one for PS3, work perfectly fine, no fucking about at all, switch and its on.
I'm looking into game rental services and I'm torn between LoveFilm.com and SwapGame.com.
The tarrifs I want are both £9.99/mo. LoveFilm let you have 2 games out at a time with a 4 game per month limit, SwapGame let you have 1 out at a time but an unlimited number of rentals per month.
I'm kind of leaning towards LoveFilm as I can't see myself getting through any more than four games a month...ever.
Does anyone have any experiences they want to share with either company? If games get lost in the post do they charge you? (a friend tells me LoveFilm do not as long as you don't lose more than X games over Y amount of time).

If you're going to go with LoveFilm, go with TescoDVDRental.com. They're powered by LoveFilm (read: they are LoveFilm) except that they're a pound cheaper and you get clubcard points. Every little helps, right? I use them, but I stick to the 1 disc a month games option. I find that with the games I already own I rarely want to play more than 1 rental game at a time. I don't remember there being a limit on how many games you can rent in a month - I've certainly never hit it.
As for reliability, they're very good. I've been using them for about 9 months or so. Only once have I had a disc not turn up at my door within a day or two of them saying they'd sent it (I reported it and they re-added it to my list and sent another game out, then the missing disc turned up a week or so later and so I sent it back with the replacement) and if they don't recieve your disc you can report that after 3-4 days and they'll send you the next game on your list. They've got a good selection too. I've never had any charges or anything, and the "take a holiday" option came in very useful when I ended up with a backlog of games I'd bought that I wanted to play through. They suspend your account for a few weeks and you start paying again at the end of it. Perfect if you've just bought Final Fantasy 13 or something and want to play that for a while.
I don't have to tell you this, but I'll let anyone else know - these services are great. If you're the kind of person that's interested in playing new games that come out (like Dead Space or Prince of Persia), but wouldn't want to buy them only to find out that they're either dull or repetative or just not your thing (like Dead Space or Prince of Persia), then you can rent them through this at a fraction of the cost. The same goes for if you find yourself trading in your games a few months after getting them. If you really want to (and as long as you don't mind the company being curious as to why you're doing it) you could even keep the game for about 6 months or so and still not pay full retail price. Well worth it, in my opinion.
Anyone know of a good place to pick up an i-pod Nano? My current i-river is a bit on the hefty side to go running with and I fancy using that little Nike doo-hickey that tracks your exercise.
I don't want to spend a lot of money though. Any idea folks?
Apple have refurbished 8GB iPod nanos for £89.00. Don't be put off by the refurb label - other than generic brown cardboard packaging, they come exactly as they would brand new (i.e. entirely replaced outer case) and come with the same warrantee/support as a fully priced one. http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/specialdeals/ipod/ipod_nano
If you want an iPod you will always pay more than other players. However, if you're willing to go for an older nano then check out CEX.
Aye, I wouldn't normally be fussed (I like my iriver stuff) but I want this nike add-on.
Aha, you're a star Willeth, I didn't think about CEX at all and they've got a 4gb Ipod Video for £60 in the Leeds store. I've got a couple of unwanted games (Twilight Princess, Guitar Hero 2, GTA 4 and the Xbox Live Vision Camera) which near enough get me up to that amount.

Kind of obvious to point out but LoveFilm also do films which you might be interested in taking advantage of. I've used them for 4/5 years and haven't had an issue with them for years, back when screenselect and lovefilm merged they sent out a lot of badly scratched discs but I haven't seen any of them for a while.
