All I ask for this is that rather than relying on narrow 'corridors' and respawning enemies, they open things up and make it a bit more dynamic. Employ some AI coders and let's go to town! I absolutely love the story and atmosphere, the action is brilliant, it just feels a shame to have guys that keep respawning until you hit the next trigger-volume.

What kind of person doesn't love enemies who never miss ,never end and can kill you faster then you can blink. You are a horrible person and must suck at the game.

Not really , I actually agree that veteran would be more fun with less instant, cheap deaths.

Admittedly, it's technically the CoD4 thread, but MW2 was being discussed (on the thread title on the first page nonetheless) at http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?t=83904

The first thread is for CoD4. You can tell because it says so in the title. There was some discussion of MW2 in there, yes, as they are directly related to one another.

This thread is purely for MW2, in light of all of the new information that is starting to come forward. People looking for information might not pick up on the MW2 details in the CoD4 thread.

Go to the MW site, they've got a whole flash thing with zoom functions and all. Nifty. nthing the groaning about lack of gameplay footage.

    Wonder who this guy is.

    Also, have some MiG-29.

    Copypasted notelist of mine.

-Looks like one of the weapons being carried in the elevator is an M4 Carbine.
    -"No Russian."
-Man with a trenchcoat once things start getting explode-y.
    -Offshore oil rig.
    -MiG-29s.
-An area that looks like the interior of either a bus, subway, or an aircraft.
-Looks like a fortress or castle with the rig.
-Definitely seeing what look like destroyers in the background. Likely just for speculation, but hey.
-Looks like someone has a hazmat suit in a few frames.
-Gives more of the feeling of TERRORISM than warfare. At least it does in my book.

Looks like one part of the game will be set in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Besides making out the favelas through out the teaser, you can also see the Christ the Redeemer statue at frame 1:24.07 on the upper left corner.

I'm thinking maybe Activision wanted to keep the CoD franchise closer to what people think of the CoD franchise, and either not pollute the CoD name with the MW or vice versa. Or both. Perhaps they thought MW undersold because of the CoD name. Perhaps they thought that WaW undersold because people just wanted more MW from CoD, so they decided to split them.

Yeah, I think that IW realized that the CoD name is getting sullied with everything that Treyarch keeps releasing. This is a way for IW to keep their greatness that they've built, and protect it.

Nice catch, missed that one. Could be a rather interesting location to use. Anyone figured out what language is being spoken at the terminal?

Side note, keeping fingers crossed for some arsenal diversity this time around. AKs and ARs are a given, but maybe we'll see some other new ones. Maybe some of the more obscure Russian weapons i.e. the AEK series. One can hope.

You lost me here, Treyarch's already dropped more support than IW has for their title. Besides, they're really not that different.

Or, from the "everyone in corporate is dumb" line, maybe they saw World at War undersell what they wanted, and assumed it wasn't because Treyarch had a bad rep, but instead assumed people were skipping the next Call of Duty to get the next Modern Warfare, so their solution was to split the two, so instead of "I'll wait for the next modern warfare" it was "Hey look two different franchises"

EDIT: To clarify, CoD3 was awful. Treyarch majorly fucked it up. With World at War, they did a pretty good job, but they still have the bad rep they created for themselves for releasing the steaming pile of dog shit that was CoD3

Yep. I'm one of the few that enjoy it from what I gather. I was also referring to WaW.

Slight edit: I enjoyed MW. I did not enjoy the limited support it received on the 360 end. Also, for 8 months of dev time, I'd say Treyarch did a pretty good job on CoD3.

The only caveat is that the action and intensity is almost wholly as a result of there being tight corridors and choke spawn points. It is incredibly hard to have one without the other.

Look at Halo 3. That game is incredibly open and has no areas with respawning enemies. And the level of intensity even on the final trench run is almost pedestrian compared to, say, The Bog.

But that doesn't invalidate their successes. World at War is very good. End of story. The development team they have there at the moment has proven they have talent. Even when using someone elses engine and most of their ideas. I'd argue it would have been easier to fuck up WaW then to do the good job they did do.

Furthermore, I doubt massively they have dropped the COD branding from MW2. The COD name is huge. There is no reason to drop it. Massive financial gains I'm afraid trump any childish developer rivalry you think exists. Which it does not.

The last time I played a game that took place in Brazil slums was Socom 2 . This also reminds me how retarded the premise of that mission was. An all female group of terrorists amazon warriors took over the town. If something like that happened in mw2 it would be hilarious.

When did W@W become good? Hell looking just at our threads on both games, CoD4's thread is like on its 6 iteration? and is like 2 years old. And it still dwarfs the W@W thread. Why is that? Cause treyarch made a good game or made a bad follow up to an amazing game?

IMO, W@W was a good game, but fell far below the standard of MW. MW was pretty much perfect. Good weapons, good single player, good maps, good perks. W@W just piggybacked off that, added tanks and replaced the good maps with shitty, broken exploit laden maps.

In addition, if I'm not mistake fourzerotwo (or whatever that guys handle is) made a post on his blog bashing W@W for ripping them off... which I agree with.
