Computer problem

A couple of weeks ago I reformatted my computer. Everything worked all fine and dandy. Got everything reinstalled and what not. Then out of the blue my computer has stopped recognizing that I have a CD/DVD drive. The BIOS sees it but when the computer is in normal operation mode, nothing works. I have already tried switching the wires that connect to and and putting an old CD/DVD drive, it still doesn't see it. Anyone have any advice.

Can you see the drive in Device Manager? Does it show any error codes if it is there?
