Weird keyboard issue

So my keyboard works fine in Windows; I can type, I can post, all the buttons and shortcuts seem to be working. But since last night, as soon as I fire up a game - any game, apparently - its behavior becomes erratic. For instance, in Deus Ex the movement keys just don't work, and remapping them didn't help. In Dawn of War pressing a number key to activate a squad snaps my view to them as if I'd pressed it twice, and pressing F10 once to bring up the menu makes it come up and then disappear again, strobing on and off, like I was tapping the button furiously.
I've swapped in three different keyboards and am having the same issues on each (I also plugged them into different ports). Any ideas?
Check your keyboard maps and make sure it's set to the appropriate region (US if your in North America). Also check if you have any of the accessibility key settings enabled, as they can really fuck shit up.

How do I check those?
I tried reinstalling the driver last night and no go.

Control Panel->Accessibility Options, Keyboard tab. If they are enabled, you can both turn them off as well as disabling the shortcuts that turn them on.

Thanks!
So I checked these, and they weren't enabled (although I disabled the shortcuts just to be on the safe side).

Do you have another keyboard you can try? If the keyboard is usb try another port. If its wireless check the batteries/reciever.

Yeah, I've swapped in three different keyboards (they're all corded, no wireless) and plugged them into different ports. No joy.
Go to Control Panel > Keyboard, and check what the Character Repeat Delay and Repeat Rate are set to. Repeat delay should be short or the one just left of it, and Repeat Rate should be fast.

Repeat Delay was in the middle, but otherwise that's how it was set up. I moved it over first one and then both notches and no luck.
I'm assuming you've tried an old, no frills, IBM keyboard.
If that is the case, I'm going to suggest a format, as Windows doesn't want to play nice with your keyboards.

From the OP it seems like this worked fine a few days ago, did you add new software or change anything? Might want to check if any new windows updates got installed in the past few days.

About two weeks ago I installed a new DVD-RW drive. Unfortunately, I have no idea if that's what did it, because until this past weekend I hadn't played anything on the computer for several weeks.
I have Windows set to run any updates by me first, and there haven't been any that I can recall. I think I'll see if a format and reinstall helps anything.
EDIT: also, I just tried reinstalling and updating DirectX. No luck there either.

Sometimes Windows interacts with something innocuous, like a Java update, and all sorts of fucked up shit happens. It used to be very common back in the day, when Myth 2 would format your harddrive and the like. Not so much anymore.
