Yeah, definitely a poorly introduced, but superbly developed, character. I really liked that he maintained the pacifist mentality so well throughout the series.
He will, indeed, be missed. Especially since he's likely the only member of Angel Investigations that survived that night, excepting ancient gods, of course.

His resolution in the finale was the most depressing to me, because he had to break that pacifist code, even if it was just the one time
and he walked away looking so broken and defeated that he had to do it

It seemed to me he was more sad that Angel had sacrificed their friendship for that one thing, something Angel could have easily done himself. That, to me, was why he left. It was a way of saying, "everything we've been through, I do owe you, but this? You still don't get it." kind of thing.
Just started rewatching Angel on DVD. My girlfriend started watching Buffy, which I'd never really watched, so I watched it with her. After the first season, I suggested we get the Angel DVDs, too, and watch them concurrently, since she'd never seen Angel. Fun times.
I definitely preferred Angel, by leaps and bounds. It never seemed as campy as Buffy. It was more about someone who saw themselves as a bad person, trying to atone. That was a theme that spoke to me at the time, so I connected quite well with it.
huh, thats sad. i really loved his character in the last season, all hollywood and being the head of the party planning committee or whatever. i wonder what he looks like without the makeup

groo and harmony were my favorite angel character, but lorne is definitely up there

Connor was a tool. The only enjoyable Connor moment was when he checked out Faith and Cordy made a comment about him definitely being his father's son.

It really is. Glenn Quinn was the same age when he died.
