Yes, another moving thread. My search is broken so I can't find any other threads for generic info, plus I heart spam.
Some background:
I am 18, about to graduate high school. Through my 4 years I've done pretty well if I may say so myself- maintaining above a 4.0 accumulative, doing a few seasons of waterpolo and swimming, and working a part time job (started last summer). My goal has always been to go to USC. Of course I realized this school was very competitive and there was a chance that I would not be accept. Come college app time and I only applied to 5 schools because I am fairly lazy and got cocky.
The letter from USC came on Monday. I did not get in. I got into the other 4 schools: UCSC, UCSB, CalPoly(SLO), and SDSU. Im a California kid and plan on staying that way.
My best friend, 'C,' is notasgood in school and did not get into any of the schools he wanted.
ANYWAYZ
my mom enlightened me about a community college in Santa Monica that is the #1 JC to transfer into USC (as well as UCLA and LMU) from. They have no dorms. I told C about this school, he shot the idea out to his parents and they loved it.
Long story short: We will be attending SantaMonica College beginning this fall. They do not have dorms, so C and I will be getting an apartment together.
C and I are party animals, but we are good at keeping our acts together. We drink and (mostly just I) smoke [green] just as much as any other Californian high schoo senior. He hasn't stopped playing WoW, I went a year clean but have been logging on every 2 weeks or so lately and will most likely get back into it in this new situation.
HOW DO I PREPARE?! I mean this in as many ways as possible: What kind of stuffz should I be sure to get for two 18 year olds to survive on their own? How should we meet new people without the usual freshman dorm experience? Where should I look for apartments? How incredibly difficult will it be to find a job?
I will be sharing all this info with the future roomie. Thanks in advance
and feel free to ask any questions, I'm not good at this whole makingthreads thing.

I can't recommend highly enough that you quit WoW before going into college. I picked it up my junior year at ULCA and I wish I hadn't. It will stop you from meeting new people and studying as much as you should. I can't speak for USC but I know that the competition for JC transfers to UCLA was almost as fierce as the competition to enter as a freshman. All of the transfer students I knew had a 4.0 at their JC. If you really want to make USC happen, don't dick around with a stupid MMORPG.
