I'm in the middle of the semester from hell, plus internship and work to go along with it. I had an especially obnoxious day at work yesterday, went out last night and drank a little too much and left my cellphone at the bar. I did exact same thing about a year ago, I just left it at Taco Bell. I checked with the bar twice, they insist no one has found it. I keep calling it, and it rings but no one will pick up. It may be doing it's thing where it rings for the caller and doesn't actually ring because it sucks like that. (I suppose it's better than the first one I lost...someone would pick up when I called, but they just made panting noises into it.)
Anyway, my cell phone is gone and I'm in a terrible mood due to everything piling up on top of me. Oh...on top of everything else I'm broke, I don't get an upgrade yet and I don't have cell phone insurance. I really doubt I'm going to recover this phone. I went to the bar, twice, to check on it. No one says they have seen it, and they checked all the lost and founds. I walked the path I walked from there to the Asian Restaurant I ate at, I asked there twice...once for day crew and once for night. I checked my online account and no calls have been made or received since I used it last night at the bar.
What I'm wondering is what is my best option?
I have a cheap pre-paid phone, but I don't have a SIM card for it. I got it about a year ago on sale for 12 bucks and tossed the SIM because I was using it with my normal phone's SIM(so I'd have my number) when I was going into medical trials and couldn't bring a phone with a camera.
I am wondering if I should just try to buy another cheap phone like that and get them to change the SIM card over to my account and number...does anyone know if that can be done or if it has to be a "fresh" SIM card?
Or, should I just buy a sim card to stick in the $12 phone I already have? I don't know how much SIMs cost...last time I checked, several years ago, they were about $30...but a cheap "go phone" only costs $20 and comes with a sim.

ultimately the best bet is to call the company and tell them you lost your phone and ask what options are available. sometimes they will make exceptions and let you get a prepaid phone and a regular sim. even if they won't you can have them cancel out your old phone. the last thing you want is for this to be gone a week and then have hundreds of dollars in calls made from it.
is they won't let you get a new phone just buy a prepaid phone until you have more options available (I'd recommend net 10 they make good, cheap phones, with great coverage)
I'd really prefer not to buy a prepaid phone to use the minutes on it. I already have plenty of rollovers to use, and I don't want to have to buy a phone and then pay to put $50 in minutes or whatever on it because my boss calls me a whole bunch of times at work to check in.
Why do my phones always get jacked? Why can't I have the nice person find my phone.
Thanks for the help though.
