Hey guys, I recently bought a new Gateway laptop. It's heavy on gaming, so it overheats constantly. On my last laptop, a unibody Macbook Pro, I used a program called SMCFanControl to turn up the fans to 6000 RPM. And it cooled that sucker down fantastically. Now, I was wondering if there was a similar program for Windows Vista. Or if I could diddle around with the computer somehow and turn them up that way. They sound like they're at 3,500-4,000 RPM when I'm playing games on max settings. Anyway I can notch it up another 2,000 RPM?
It's a Gateway FX series laptop.
What's that ringing? Ting-ting-a-linging in my head~? Oh, you're always there, making me whole. You're always waiting up for me. You're my first kiss, ever so pure, and ever so defiling, once lost, can never be the same. Fuck me. Violate me. Deny me.
Those aren't much better alternatives. So there is no way I can up the fan speed?

Does it overheat and shut down or just run hot on the bottom of the laptop? I have a Gateway FX and I can't leave it on my lap; I picked up a cheapo lap desk to keep from scorching my nuts. It's never overheated, even after hours of playing Far Cry 2 on max.
No, it's never shut down, it just runs a little hot, as it's obviously going to do, and I wanted a way to raise the fan speed.

Might be what you are after.
I believe there are BIOS settings you can alter too.
