Gaming Ringtones - Now if only someone would call me

edited April 2009 in Games and Technology
So, I have recently ventured into our brave new world and purchased a mobile phone (quite exciting this computer magic!) capable of actually using whatever crap I put on it as a tone. This prospect touches me in untold ways, and now I am left with full freedom to let the world know that I have no business being out in public.

I am vaguely aware that there was a thread here some months back about people's use of gaming tunes as ring and/or message tones, and I'm wondering if anybody here still does that. Right now I'm rolling with some of this

Keep the Groovin' Arranged

and some of this

SH2 Theme of Laura

both of which are appropriately awesome but vaguely obscure. I also remember some talk of the Zelda "puzzle solved" or MGS "guard alerted" tunes as message tones, which actually makes me a bit rubbery to think about.

Anyways, meandering soliloquies aside, what cool tones do you cool chaps rock on your cell?

Note: We all know how things go down here; go ahead and post youtube links, but keep your mp3's to yourselves unless we can be sure that there's no issue sharing them.

I use the MGS Codec sound as my ringtone, a few people have been nerdy enough to notice it.

So far my main problem has been finding songs that are still a bit distinctive at the beginning without being absolutely over-the-top annoying (I do have some respect for my fellow man). I haven't broken out the editing software yet so I'm stuck with songs playing from the start.

I don't even know where to start with the mini-tunes and stuff that would be better classified as a sound effect.

That said, I dig what I've got working so far.

Tuftoo theme is pretty classy. I've managed to find an awesome edited version, which works perfect as a ringtone. Can't seem to find it now, though.

Also, "Gentlemen" is even classier. Classiest, probably.

Whenever I get a message, the Spy goes "GENTLEMEN."

Whenever someone calls, Sector Sweep from the Orange Box soundtrack starts playing.

I used to have the codec ringing as my ringtone, but I figured "fuck it, this music is awesome"

This would make the best ring tone ever.... if my goddamn service provider hadn't loaded my phone with their shitty custom firmware with disabled user ringtones.

I used to have the music that plays whenever a trainer fights you in Pokémon as my ringtone.

These days I've got the Doctor Who tune, rather than anything game-related.

When I get a voicemail I have the music that plays when you make it to the safe room in L4D. When my fiancee calls it's the music that plays when the witch is near in L4D.

When one of my friends call, I have the Punch-Out!! NES fight theme.

Have been sporting "Playing with danger" from Team Fortress 2 for almost a year now,
every time my phone calls at work my co-worker starts humming along.

I will immediately know my phone has been ringing if he comes along impersonating a spy,
    humming the tune.

I have special ringtones for most of the people who call me on a regular basis, but almost all of them are game related.

My parents have Phantasy Sprite from Phantasy Star 2. (The song that plays at the title screen.)

My partner has To Zanarkand from the Final Fantasy X soundtrack.

A guy who writes for the same site as me has the chase scene from FF: Advent Children.

My general ringtone changes a lot, but I've been using bits and pieces of the Persona 4 soundtrack since the game came out. I'm one of the lucky people who has a phone that uses MP3s as ringtones though, so creating a new ringtone takes about two minutes.

I have the Super Mario Bros. Ground Theme from SSBB as my ringtone and the TF2 scout yelling in pain for text messages. Both rather annoying when I think about it.

The display on my phone is broken and I need a new, but unfortunately it looks like you can't put all sorts of stuff on the cheapest phones available.

I've had Dragon Roost Island as my ringtone for some time, and no less than 3 people wanted me to share it with them, so I guess it's popular as well as awesome to me.

I also have the Zelda treasure soundfx as my message received sound.

My girlfriend lives 5000 miles away and so we have Skype with webcams enabled pretty much 24\7.
I was out of the room when my phone received a message dee dee dee DEE. She thought she was going crazy and had played too much Zelda.
Which clearly makes her crazy, since there's no such thing as too much Zelda.
