I've been trying to strike out as a Indie Game Developer for say 2 years now. Finally I have something to show, or maybe share with you guys. I'm not trying to self promote or sell my game, I just want to see what your reactions are to the game I made.
That intel contest seems more like a marketing part on their end. It's also technical judging oriented like Best in Intel threading, and Best in Intel graphics.
Lookin' pretty good. I like pick up and play games like this - I'm interested in seeing how much depth there is to it, but so far it's aesthetically pleasing and the music doesn't make me want to cut off my ear and mail it to a girl I love.
I'd suggest moving the UI elements (ship health, base health, orders, etc) farther from the center of the screen. I find it a bit distracting.
Also, if you don't have it already, you could add some sort of damage indication to the ship (for example, as your health gets lower, the ship or base appears more broken).
Anyway, it looks interesting to me. I hope you finish it!
i recall a game where you are an airship very similar to this, but it was sidescrolling and you could change out different weapons, hammerfall was the name
