Follow the Post-PAX Party Dinner on Twitter: @PPPD09

To any interested parties or newcomers: we are sold out. If you are just now finding out about this event or you'd been waiting to register and you missed the deadline, I truly apologize. Hopefully we'll be back bigger and badder next year!

HERE'S THE DETAILS FOR THE FIRST ANNUAL PPPD!

WHEN: Sunday, September 6th, starting at 8:00pm. Goes to 11:00 at least, later if we can spend enough on food and drinks to keep the place open.

WHERE: The Taphouse Bar & Grill. 1506 Sixth Avenue, Seattle Washington, 98101. www.taphousegrill.com. Like a block from PAX. Here's the street view: the glass archway in the background is the convention center where PAX is.

WHAT: An awesome dinner/party featuring 100 of your new best friends from PAX. Details include:

An all-you-can-eat-for-all-night appetizer buffet, featuring the following:*

Vegetable gyoza (potstickers)
Either caribbean jerk chicken tenders OR tequila chicken tenders (voting still in progress)
Either Dungeness crab stuffed mushrooms OR beef tenderloin with blue cheese and horseradish on baguette (voting still in progress)
Fresh made sushi and nigiri
Assorted cheeses and crackers
Fresh made hummus platter with pita bread, olives, and roquefort tomatoes
Soda, coffee, tea, water
*alcoholic drinks not included, see below.

Our own private bartender. It's a cash bar, but gratuity has been taken care of.

Entertainment including:

4 professional sized pool tables that we can actually play on
A huge iTunes library open to anyone with an iPhone/iPod touch and the Remote app

Two 120" projection screens with consoles attached, featuring the following systems and games:*

Projector 1: Retro Gaming!
Nintendo 64: GoldenEye, Mario Kart 64, Perfect Dark, and maybe more!
Super Nintendo: Bomberman, Clayfighter, F-Zero, Mario Kart, Street Fighter II, and maybe more!

Projector 2: HD Gaming!
Nintendo Wii: Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Sports, Wii Sports: Resort, and maybe more!
X-Box 360: Rock Band (1, 2, DLC), Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty 5, Left 4 Dead, Street Fighter IV, Castle Crashers, Geometry Wars 2, Worms 2: Armageddon, and maybe more!
*specific times for specific games are still being worked out, and nothing's absolutely guaranteed.

A raffle for all registered attendees, including the following prizes:*

Limited edition 2001 Games Day Kroot Shaper Warhammer 40,000 model
Defense Grid (PC)
King’s Knight (NES)
Megaman 2 (NES)
Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis)
Half-Life 2: Episode One (PC, Steam)
Super Mario Bros. Season 2 (Cartoon, DVD)
Tron 20th Anniversary Edition (DVD)
*prizes might change.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Sometime during PAX you'll also need to pick up your party packet from me. I'll be hanging out in my hotel room (which is literally next door to PAX) for a few hours on Friday and Saturday night expressly for this purpose, and I'll make myself available on Twitter if you'd like to find me at the expo. The packet will contain your bracelet, raffle tickets, and maybe other stuff. You'll need this to get in, and I strongly encourage everyone to get it before the party. I don't want to spend half the night of the party handing them out.

You should also bring your appetite, any card games or whatever you think might be fun, and your "A" game for consoles and pool.

Is this going to be like the prePAX dinner where you're renting a hall and having it catered or will it just be having everyone show up at a certain restaurant at a certain time?

It'd be kinda neat/lame as hell to have it in the same place as the pre-pax dinner. :P

Honestly, it depends on the interest. ET has informed me that renting out the hall that they use for the Pre-PAX Dinner isn't realistic unless we have attendance of at least 200 people. I'm not at all opposed to having the Pre and Post dinners in the same place, but it's up to the PAXers. If we get the numbers, it could certainly be a possibility. Like DStalefish said, it would be pretty cool to have the two dinners in the same place.

If we don't get the numbers it will probably be of the latter sort that you mentioned, although I would like to make it a little more official/cool than that.

This thread has been up for less than a day and we're already up to 10 people. There are many days left to PAX, so that number could very well get large enough to warrant reserving the hall. Who knows!

I'm never really up for the pre-PAX dinner -- I'm either busy that evening or I'm not down in Seattle until Friday -- but the post-PAX dinner sounds like a great way to end the weekend, assuming I get enough sleep beforehand to justify prolonging my drive home into the darker hours of the evening.

Provided there are no TSer/buttoneer meet-ups scheduled post-PAX at the same time, I'm down.

On that note, when the time comes for more planning you should probably coordinate with other post-PAX activities so everything doesn't run together.

I don't recall that many post pax events last year, excepting the button exchange. But that lasted all of half an hour, shouldn't cause a real conflict.

It's worth mentioning that at this point, it being so early and this being the first year, there's really nothing to confirm to. I don't even know where it's going to be yet. ;) For right now, all the head count is for is to give me a ball park. Will it be 10 people? 50? 100? 500? So don't worry about making anything official yet.

I totally appreciate your desire to confirm, though. And there will be a time when you can act on that desire. Oh yes. There will be a time.
