So Kotaku just sent out the word that Blood Bowl multiplayer beta registration is now open. You can sign up yourself right over here. What the hell is it, you ask?

THE GAME
The game is a combination of a Wargame and a sports game The basics are extremely simple: two teams, one ball. The team that carries the ball into the opponent's end zone scores a touchdown, the team with the most touchdowns at the end of the game is the winner. However, it’s how you decide to do this that makes things interesting, the ends justify the means! It’s not just the players you have at your disposal either. You can bribe the referee’s to look the other way as you cripple or trample annoying opponents and hire illegal wizards to give you a hand directly from the crowd… Blood Bowl severely tests the finest tacticians' strategies
There are many races to accommodate every player’s profile and even more strategies for experimenting. Winning a game requires a strong game-sense and a lot of self-control.
For the player's enjoyment, omnipresent humor and the use of spells, weapons, and other non-regulatory means place Blood Bowl outside of the classic sport simulation genre.
There's an NDA on the beta, so we might not be able to talk about it too much if we get in - but here's a thread anyways. And uhh....here's some screens:

I doubt I'm alone in hoping that games workshop continues to license out more of their IP for video games in the future.
Screw scoring. I want to maul things to death.
It still annoys me that they never touched that IP. That could be sooo good if it fell into the right persons lap. Namely sega's.
I totally agree, I remember that being my favorite Genesis game. It was fun sometimes just to set the death level up really high, play the 60 Whiners and kill the team off. Other than that, the multiplayer was tons of fun.

I have too many games to play/things to do to play this beta enough, but I want to know if it's any good.
Wouldn't be appropriate for the setting. Blood Bowl has always been sort of an alternate reality Warhammer.
The most fun I had playing MLF was as the Sixty Whiners against the ML Allstars. My objective? Survive the game as long as possible. I ended up finishing all four quarters; the final score was something like 0-77.
After the first half, I didn't have enough offensive or defensive players to field either, so I had to let them score on every kickoff or punt, and I had to punt on every possession. It was awesome.

Mutant league football should remind you of Blood Bowl.

It wouldn't work with Chrome. I had to use IE.
Chaos Dwarves are almost dead in Warhammer. They aren't even a real army anymore.

While we probably won't get Chaos Dwarves ever, Undead and Dark Elves are going to be added as DLC, i wonder if PC users will be getting it for free or we're going to get the standard console price gouging treatment.
You shut your face. They still have an army list, and they're still mentioned in the Ogre Kingdoms army book, and there are even (terrible fake) Chaos Dwarves manning the Hellcannon thing for Warriors of Chaos.
We'll see a new army for them yet. The beards and big hats will return, mark my words.
