The Unusuals: Giants and Midgets Rob Banks *SPOILERS*
The Unusuals is a show about a bunch of cops that makes use of both comedic and dramatic story telling. So far poorly. But here's hoping to improvement!
Spoilers past the line below.

So I watched this earlier today and got the obvious impression it's trying to come off as some sort of MASH type show. The funny seemed out of place at times and the drama felt forced at others, but overall it wasn't terrible and showed potential assuming the characters aren't going to go walking around blatantly showing their problems.
I did, however, greatly enjoy the lie detector and subsequent dirty cop method of extracting a confession.
I think once they can build the characters a bit more the show could have promise. Though I will say that I didn't find myself disliking any of the characters during the pilot, so I know I'll be turning in for the next few episodes.
I liked it, but I also liked Life on Mars. Will America join me in my like of this show?
At first I was only interested because I remember seeing the main character in a bunch of Disney shows over the years. I always like seeing how kids from that background make the switch to more dramatic roles.
The characters were pretty likable, but somehow they lacked depth even though every one of them has secrets. Maybe they will get more into it over the next few weeks.
The only truely intriguing character for me was the one who was already dead, but I guess that was by design.
Yeah, instead of gradually introducing to everyone they tried to shoehorn almost all their stories into this one episode which left them seeming kind of shallow. Hopefully they focus a bit more as the show goes on and realize they don't have to give everyone equal screen time every episode.
Much more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Pretty cool cast. I will keep watching. Still sad about Life on Mars. Hopefully this won't have a terrible ending. Seems like ABC cancels everything beside Lost and Grey's Anatomy. I'll be interested to see how long this and Castle last.
I actually enjoyed this show. I couldn't decide if was going to be a cop show that went with a broad arc like the Shield or if it was gonna end up episodic like CSI or something. I'm glad they are seeming like they are going to be a nice bit of both.
is Tom Fontana behind this? The Lie Detector gag is something he yapped from David Simon when they were doing Homicide, and half the actors come from Oz.
According to IMDB he is not, but Dennis Leary is an exec. producer on this. The writer's only other credits is Bones, which I like whenever I happen to see it.
This show remains the most generic television show I have ever seen
A bunch of cops who solve crimes and occasionally crack wise and have drama? Wow, what fresh and original ideas, where do they come up with this stuff
Maybe this is my issue---it doesn't seem to have it's own voice, but takes elements from other shows and pastes them together to make some kind of mish-mash of ideas.
Perhaps the writers are still working on finding its' own voice, which is why it feels sort of off right now.
Just watched the second episode. I'm really liking this show. Then again I like all tv shows. I really hope they haven't resolved the death obsession of the two partners. Because yeah that is the best part of the show.

I like the idea. Also a Tamblyn fan, so yeah.
Too bad it's not gonna last.

She looks like a permanent 12 year old to me.

Dude, I feel the same way about Harold Perrineau.
Every time I see him I hear, "WHERE'S MY BOY!?!?"
Half = 2 of the actors, but still.

Was that just a set up? Should I even bother watching this?
like ghosts? nah, none of that has shown up.
It's showcasing the weirdest shit NYC can throw at you......and delicious secrets
That aren't really secrets.
And if supernatural stuff comes in to it it won't be a central theme for the show. Most likely only for the two death focused characters.
Edit: Who, I might add, are the one part of the story I'm genuinely enjoying. I'd like more of the show on these two.
