[WORM ON] Worms Armageddon (Also W2/WWP/W4M)

edited August 2007 in Games and Technology
I have my Broadband Connection back this week, which can mean only one thing - Worming frenzy. I haven't played a halfway decent game of Worms in ages, so I think it's time we get our Worm on.

Worms 2
The first Windows-based game in the series, and the first game to feature a proper online mode. Has a fairly robust online server and some exclusive weapons that don't appear in subsequent titles in the series. Still a fan favourite.

Worms Armageddon
Originally developed with the intention of releasing it as an expansion for Worms 2, Worms Armageddon features improved graphics, more weapons & options, and a vastly improved single player experience. Was superseded by Worms World Party as the "better" multiplayer game until 2001 when Team 17 began releasing "BETA updates" for this title; originally to make the game playable under Windows XP, but since then various improvements have been made to the game making this the more popular title for Worming online at present.

The latest Beta Update can be found here: http://wa.team17.com/main.html?page=supp&area=upda&file=15

Worms World Party
Identical to Armageddon in all but two respects - different single player games, and the inclusion of the WormPot in multiplayer games which changes the gameplay rather substantially.

Worms 4: Mayhem
It's Worms... but in 3D. Crazy, eh? I wouldn't say the game doesn't suffer from the additional dimension, but if you view this as a game on its own, it's not a bad addition to the series. It's certainly miles better than Worms 3D, at least.

I shall be home from work in about an hour and a half. I'm up for a game if you guys are.

Oh man. I haven't played Worms in AGES.

A game must be played now.

I think I'll be able to get on around 3:00 PM (PST)

W2/WA/WWP are my options. Just choose the game and I'll see you there.

Armageddon is always going to be my first choice. Which PST are you (Wikipedia lists 3 different timezones with that reference), and what is that in relation to GMT?

Edit: Never mind, it's probably Pacific.

    Emphasized for satanic need.

I adore Worms, and actually put a similar thread up a long time ago. We seemed to have a reasonable amount of success using Hamachi to circumvent the horrible place that is WormNet. But yes, I am up for a game SO HARD, especially of Armageddon. I'm also on PST. (gmt-8 )

edit: I just remade the old Hamachi network, name: wormsPA pass: wang

Armageddon was the best Worms for me, for the fact of the complete weapons list and utilities. The single player game was also AMAZINGly well done, with Super Sheep Racing and Euthanasia and all those awesome minigames that really made one better at the real game.

So awesome. I still hum the tune from the intro from time to time.

Armageddon is the best one and the one that most people have. Pretty much a no-brainer there. I'm down for this anytime.

From what I hear from the Teamsters themselves (I happen to be in regular contact with them, although I can't imagine why...) it's going to be really slick. I'm probably going to get a 360 for this alone.

    Also! I'm downloading Hamachi now.

It's 4:15 now. That would make 8pm here 1:00am for you.

So let's try doing a game in 45 minutes and then maybe another one tonight if there's interest.

Zek, if you've got a router, check out this site:

edit: or just forward port 12975, that's the default for Hamachi.

I know it had a PlayStation release. They were all good, but the PC one was the best, it had the most weapons and maps and whatnot.

    There is an N64 release.

It was awful, but not as bad as the GameBoy Color version.

Also, who was the green team in that first game that crashed? Cause that was hilarious.
