I'm currently trying to get to the root of a problem i'm having with my machine at the moment and was hoping someone might be able to help pin it down.
I bought a new Geforce 9800 GT lately as my old card had died. I have no problems with it when just using windows, browsing the web, etc. Whenever I try to play a game however, I get between 1-10 minutes in, and the screen gets completely corrupted and freezes (all the colours shift and there is a kind of grid pattern). The audio plays for a few seconds afterwards before starting to repeat, and finally the whole system reboots. This has happened with TF2, L4D and WoW (acronyms ftw).
I have tried older drivers and the most recent ones. I reinstalled Direct X 9.0c but none of this seemed to work. I had thought that my psu wasn't up to the job, but having installed a beefier one, I still have the same issue.
So, is my graphics card to blame? Hopefully I will be able to return it to the store, but I want to be sure that it is causing the problem before i do that.
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away.
