Ants successfully clone themselves before lesser human race discovers how.

BBC wrote:
The ants reproduce via cloning - the queen ants copy themselves to produce genetically identical daughters.

This species - the first ever to be shown to reproduce entirely without sex - cultivates a garden of fungus, which also reproduces asexually.

The finding of the ants' "world without sex" is published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

Anna Himler, the biologist from the University of Arizona who led the research, told BBC News that the team used a battery of tests to verify their findings.

So the ants are not content with having such simple abilities as super strength and evolving to the point of singularity, so they have now decided to clone themselves asexually, doing away with the male sex altogether to reach maximum efficiency.

While sharing the same DNA does leave the species open to a greater risk of extinction due to their immune systems being the exact same (making them much less capable to ward off the possibility of new viruses and parasites), that shit doesn't really matter if your species has reached this point in evolution and fought off most of the shit nature has thrown at you.

Basically, ants; Japanese of the insect world?

Let's talk about nature and stuff you know? It's just wow maaaannnn.

asexual reproduction would make masturbation a fucking miserable experience

always having to decide whether to have millions of kids or kill them all by throwing the tissue in a fire

rinsing your dick off with alcohol to make sure no ones left

But what happens when the ants encounter the same problem as banana trees? That is, when one virus comes along that their sole genetic strain cannot resist, it will spread through them like weeabo merchandise at an anime con.

How the hell do you evolve the ability to clone yourself? Do they have any idea what process the queen ants use to fertilize their eggs without the use of sperm?

Giant ant fetus in space? That cancels my astronaut aspirations. There is no way I'm going to share space with that.

    ants already reproduce asexually
it's just that typically among the hymenoptera, the unfertilized eggs are male and the fertilized eggs are female (what's also referred to as haploid/diploid reproduction)

the key difference here is that they've evolved the ability to produce females from unfertilized eggs, making males unnecessary
