A Disk Read Error Occurred - Worst Drive Error Ever?

I hope this is the right forum for this, I need help with this one.

My C: partition is totally fucked in a way I have never encountered before. Rebooted last night and was greeted with:
a disk read error occurred
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to Continue
which if you do it just happens again over and over.

Googling this leads to a LOT of hits but no solutions. From BartPE I can see the D: Partition of that drive with no problems but the C: Partition shows at 0kb (although it exists). From a Vista Setup Disk the installer sees both partitions and sees that C: is 100gigs.

From the Recovery Console chkdsk /r sees the partition as NTFS but then says there is an error and can't run on the drive, although it can run through the D: partition with no problems.

FIXMBR didn't do anything
FIXBOOT didn't do anything

The Drive passes both the Short and Long SeaTools tests with no errors.

I have no idea at all how to fix this but there must be a way for me to at the very least recover the data since the partition itself seems to be fine but the boot record seems all fucked up. (although I don't like how BartPE can't see any of the data on the drive)

Anybody have any suggestions?

Try hooking it up to another computer? Or swap in another HD and reinstall windows, then plug in the bad drive and see what's up.

    fixmbr
    fixboot
    chkdsk /r C:

might help. Probably a screwed boot sector, but it could be anything from the hard disk connector to power supply to misc mysterious software issues here.

Try replacing your SATA/PATA cable; worth a shot at least.

Pop the drive in a freezer for about an hour. Hook it up, retrieve any data you need fast.

    Buy a new Harddrive.

What Neaky said. It happened to a drive I had for only a couple of weeks. Turns out the read needle got loose. Bad news there, so I got a new one.
