Let's talk abut some classic gaming all up in this.
I am a PC gamer and have been since the late 80s or so as a wee tot. I vaguely recall playing on an Apple II computer with my Brother, and an old TRS-80 clone that my Dad bought, but my real memory starts with my 80386, a hand-me-down from my older brother. It had a bunch of kickass games.

And I probably lost a whole year of my life playing this and fooling around with its track editor:
And then there were all the rest:
Out of all of those though, my favorite is still:
Good god I loved this game. It's been 11 years and I'm still playing. And I'm still waiting for a sequel!
But this thread is not just for nostalgia of my old PC games. While I was deprived of consoles as a child, I'm sure a lot of you cut your teeth on 8 and 16 bit platformers. I want to hear your stories of blowing into cartridges to make games work and using Game Genie codes and of pull off your first Fatalities.
For the purposes of this discussion, I'd say anything released before this current generation of consoles, or in the case of PC games that came out before 2003 or so to be 'of age'. For discussion of newer games you might want to try making individual game threads, so as to stick with the 'no console/videogames megathread' rules.

Well, apparently you're not completely awful
Really you might as well try it. I've had about a 50/50 success rate.
When my toaster stopped working, I was once able to fix it by removing the bread, blowing inside the toaster, and putting the bread back in.
On the other hand when my girlfriend stopped working I tried removing my penis, blowing inside her vagina, and re-inserting my penis, but no such luck. She's still unemployed.

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter was fantastic, and Aces of the Pacific.
I probably played more Red Alert and it's various expansions more than any other RTS to date.
SILOS NEEDED
BUT THE MAP IS FULL
HOW DID I KNOW, ORIK
Oh fuck, I forgot Red Alert
My brother and I played the fuck out of that game over LAN.
He would play as the Allies, I would play as the Soviets, and we'd team up against a bunch of computer opponents. The best was getting those crates that would improve your tanks, and building up one super-tank with all of the upgrades. I had a fucking demonic Mammoth tank that could move as fast as a light tank and could take on small bases by itself.
inca 1 and 2 were awesome
they were oldschool adventure games with space combat set too the conquest of the incas only in space
I cannot stress how awesome they were
