My aunt just called asking what the name of the game was I played with my cousin over Thanksgiving break. Seeing my cousin is 14 years old and a girl, it was hard to think of any game she'd want to play, since all I know she plays on her Xbox is Shrek and a racing game she doesn't know the name of.
She loved Super Smash Bros Melee and my aunt wants to buy it for her for Christmas. After finally letting her understand that "Mario is not on the Xbox" and therefore Smash Brothers isn't on it, she wanted to know if there was anything similar to it on the Xbox.
I really can't think of anything. The concept is pretty unique, and the game is still on the top 10 selling chart for the Gamecube after years, if I'm correct. Does anyone have any ideas? The only thing I can think of even remotely similar is Soul Calibur. I can't really go suggesting she'd go buy Halo or some "better" game, seeing as she has an Xbox, and I have no idea what her tastes are.
I dunno if it's really that similar, but from the demo Fusion Frenzy seems to have a similar feel to it (I realise it's completely different gameplay, but it still feels like cartoon violence to me)

Fuzion Frenzy is closer to....Dammit, where have I played a game like that....Rayman Raving Rabbids, I guess, is the closest thing I can think of. A jumble of minigames.
Personally, if I were you, I'd get the girl a gamecube or a wii and SSB. A gamecube can be gotten used for, what, 50 bucks now? Sounds like a decent enough deal to me.

Good idea. Come to think of it, she might like Pikmin, as well. It looks like the GameCubes are about $70-90 on used on eBay. Aren't they $100 new with a game?
Not to mention the Wii is able to play GCN games like Smash Brothers, but it looks like the OP isn't looking to drop that much money.
I'd say that Soul Caliber 2, while only similar to Smash Bros in the respect that it is a fighting game, would probably be a good buy. It has a pretty broad appeal, and I know my two little cousins LOVE it (granted, they're both boys).

While I'm sure the op would love for his cousin to get a Wii, it's a super rare item at the moment and it's much more expensive than what his aunt was probably trying to spend. Ideally, sure, get her a Wii if it's not out of her spending range.
Anyway, like a few others have said, nothing quite comes close to SSBM. Since gamecubes are rather cheap now, your aunts best bet would be to get a GC and SSBM. But even that might be more than what she is willing to spend.
As for Soul Calibur, don't forget it's rated for teens. Make sure your Aunt is aware that includes blood, semi-realistic violence and naughty themes.

I don't remember there being any blood in SC, and the only suggestive (not so much "naughty") themes are with Ivy and maybe Sophitia - but most kids don't pick up on those anyway. The only reason it's rated T is for the arcade (not at all simulated) violence, which is the exact same reason Smash Bros is rated T.

I only played it for a few minutes, but it seemed very Smash Bros.-like.
Nothing.
Why not get a Wii and SSBM?
GCN is dieing anyway, and Wii has plenty of games (SSB: Brawl, Excitetruck, etc.)

Small Arms is very fucking similar to Smash Bros.
but Small Arms is for Xbox 360. other than that, no there's nothing that I know of like Smash Bros. except the real thing.

It's pretty much the best fighting game in existence.
Even my girlfriend plays, and she's not really into games.
